I really like your optimism and it's a good post but jeez i think we have a habit of overrating some of our own young guys. I'm just not sure about Farnworth, Flegler, Niu and Coates being the nucleus of a "gun" side. I reckon all other 15 clubs could name 4 young players in the 19-21 year old bracket who's fans think they have just as much upside as them. Not saying they are bad players, just not a point of difference vs. the other clubs.

Personally for a huge year (i would call huge top 4 finish) i think we need 2 of the spine positions to be in the conversation as top 5 in the position, i'm not sure who delivers that in 2021.

I think 7th or 8th finish next year would be a success and 9th to 10th with less blow outs a par score given the likelihood of not much change in the playing roster.

I reckon Flegler is going to mature into an absolute weapon. Farnworth looks the goods to me. Coates could be something really special but has not shown that much yet and Nui I have no real opinion. Overall they are a promising group and I'm very happy we have them.

I am not actually sure next year even can't be a huge year. This year the side has been forged in the hottest of all fires and through it all, we've seen the nucleus of a gun side form - Carrigan, Haas, Farnworth, Dearden and Staggs. Flegler, Niu and Coates to a FAR lesser extent have all put their hand up and are trying their guts out and have swum (or at least stayed afloat) where so many others have sunk - Milford, Croft, Joffa, Lodge (injuries), Turpin, Boyd, Oates to an extent, TPJ have all been found wanting.

The key is to get the right coach in who can re-instil some self-belief in these kids and who can turn a tide when it eventually comes crashing in next year. To do that, you need to bring in some depth first and sweat on that unexpected fish to become available.

So the side must bring in Opacic, Alan, Drinkwater/Clifford, Guerra and one or two other depth players who on base wages but also with some experience to come in whenever injury necessitates their need. This side currently has no depth that is ready to do that.

So next year bring in:

2020 - Opacic, Guerra, Drinkwater, Proctor (if on a low wage ONLY), Alan, +1 unexpected big fish who becomes available if they do (hopefully Grant). Upgrade some of the kids who have earned it - Dearden, Carrigan, Haas, Staggs and lock them all up longer term.

2021 - Go all in on a gun available player.
Agree with everything you said there but very harsh on turpin, and to a lesser extent lodge. Turpin may not be THE dummy half that's going to bring us a premiership but he does not lack effort, energy and attitude when fully fit. I find it interesting that turpin has not played in any of the big smashing (losing by 30+).
Lodge is a different player this year due to the injuries. People are ripping into him but he needs an off season to recover from his injuries.

Yeah I am probably being unfair and hope Lodge gets back to his best next season when he is fit. Turpin is more of a victim for my massive push for Grant who I think this club should throw everything +10% at.

Turpin was our hooker when we lost by 32 to Parra. Then there was the 28 point loss to Canberra. If memory serves me well there were a few hidings he was involved in last season too.

Ellia Green to the Broncos but no Caslick- Broncos were never convinced she's not just a 7's player. I would have liked to see her running of Ali's passes.

Baker not playing this year either.

Joe Ofengahue linked to St George next year as the Broncos no longer require his services. Source- Channel 7.

There’s going to be no one left next year. This club is going to need 3-4 years to rebuild. Good luck to the next coach.
