Another huge win for the boys.

We didn’t look as good as we did last week, and the Dogs were in the thick of this due to a lot of errors and the refs more than the Dogs actually being good.

Regardless, these are the sorts of games you need to win in the NRL, and finding a way to pull off a victory with ~41% possession is in a lot of ways more encouraging than blowing the dogs off the park.

I thought Reynolds was immense, some huge defensive efforts at the death when he could barely walk shows me that he isn’t just here for a retirement tour and a paycheck - he really cares and will give it everything at the Broncos.

Kelly, Haas and Farnworth also fantastic tonight.

James was ineffective and should make way for Flegler once he is fit - experience or not. Staggs needs to improve quickly… an elite centre does not drop balls over the line and no amount of ‘rust’ accounts for that - that’s just attitude and concentration.. hope he sorts it out quickly.

I see alot bashing Turpin, and while I agree his is pedestrian in attack and his service can be erratic, he gives his all in the middle of the field showing up to make key tackles multiple times in each of the last 2 games. His tenacity, dedication and spirit is exactly what this team needs and I don’t think we are 2/2 without him in the middle. There may be better options in time, but right now Turps deserves more recognition… let him play that role and then let Billy come on and turn on the attacking flair.
I’m not convinced of James yet either though he is great at slowing down the ruck, he hasn’t offered much the viewers at home can see.

What I will say though, is that traditionally we would lose games in the 10 minutes either side of half time, which we haven’t been doing so far this season, and the most notable change to this is that James is on during that point. Correlation isn’t causation but it it’s not a bad sign, especially when the coach is wrapping your on field talk.

I’d be hesitant to make any changes while we are winning. Flegler for mine, is a better replacement for Robati at this stage.

Barrett has to be taking the absolute piss in that presser.
Herbie’s try was confirmed by the bunker and we know they go over everything.
The dogs had all the ball, they certainly got the rub of the green on all 50/50’s.
Patty got pulled up for an apparent late tackle on the kicker yet how many times did Reyno get taken out (in air) in that first half whilst kicking?
I won’t even begin to mention TPJ’s grubbiness or flops. TPJ got put on report in that first half in the next set after the incident, yet we missed out on the penalty..
How was that dropped ball in the play the ball in the first set of the game that your boys got away with, Barrett?
On ya bike champ.

The Carrigan “late” shot on the kicker was an absolute hoax on replay. Those plays happen all game long every week. It was a blatant attempt to get the dogs a grandstand finish.
Think it’s more a political thing with this rule, can’t be seen going against the refs thought when he was “protecting the kicker”
Bronx knew they weren’t winning that challenge they just used it for a rest

That was a boring game of football. We have a lot of undercooked players and I hope none of them are buying into any Broncos 2/2 hype.

Billy Walters needs to be in the starting side. Turpin is legit Macca V2. At least Macca was likeable.

Whoever didn't try and sign Sorry as FB when he was available is a bit silly. Niu or whatever his name is, is worse than Isaako?

Last night we get smoked by any team with a coach outside of Barrett.

Edit: NRL refs are still fucking useless. Tackle in air twice, penalty Bulldogs.

Mate, I have to disagree. I did not find it boring at all. It was a good game, a real arm wrestle. I much prefer watching a game like that compared to the blowouts we saw last season.

I am enjoying all of the games a lot more than last season. Having the scorelines close in the majority of the games makes it far more interesting compared to one side getting a 20-30 point lead consistently.

If that's boring - I'll take it everyday of the week. It was truly intense at some stages and the way the boys kept turning up for each other despite some horrendous calls was (to me at least) a true reflection of a team willing to guts it out for their mates.

Sure we were miles away of showcasing the talent this team has - witness Palasia's hit, pick-up of the spilt ball and then deft flick to Cobbo all in one movement and you know the talent is there. But this was a night for sheer guts and determination and we showed we are willing to grind.

Boring game? Perhaps you're watching the wrong sport champ.

Agreed with everything but your last sentence-Barrett has always been a grub whether being a player or a coach. He can go root himself.

Barrett’s comments in the presser about how he might now teach his players to dive has to be one of the softest comments by an NRL coach in a long time.

How about you teach them to win games when they have 60% possession and almost 100% of the fifty-fifty calls from the officials.

This open admission of a weak character is obviously reflected in his team. That presser and they way he whinged was a full on embarrassment to his club.

Your team was shit and need to learn how to finish a set properly FFS! Own it!

And this is why, even though it's undeniable we get fucked by the refs, we can't ever go to them for a "please explain". We copped the worst calls I have ever seen during Seibold's tenure, literally on a weekly basis, and we all saw it and we were all commenting on it. Yet as soon as he publicly questioned some ref calls, it was a pile-on by the media as well as Broncos fans on here, saying how he's trying to make excuses for his poor coaching.

Shit stains like the Roosters can get away with it because everyone knows it's bullshit (they were the reason they brought in the 6-again for deliberate ruck infringements, and are the main reason the play-it-with-your-foot goalposts keep moving, winning 2 premierships with tunnel-ball). Ricky can get away with it because he has already lost all credibility and for some reason people feel sorry for him. But the moment anything comes from the Broncos, whether from the coach or higher-up, it will become a joke, you can almost guarantee "penalty Broncos" gets thrown in there despite the stats proving it to be the complete opposite.

It’s exactly what this team needs. Grind out the boring games. Plus winning these boring games is so much better than being on the wrong end of a flogging.

I don't know whether the ref was biased or just inexperienced and getting overly influenced by the crowd. Some of the call that both we and the Dogs got were confusing and it was one of those games where he really should have just left the whistle in his pocket.

The obstruction off the scrum we scored a try from ?

Turpin is literally only in this side for his tackling, but even then he takes legs and teams get quick play the balls. He's service out of dummy is sub-par and adds absolutely nothing in attack. Teams know they can slide out because he doesn't run the ball and doesn't put his lead runners through any holes. But great win boys and Issako can **** right off now.

To be totally honest, I really thought the try from the scrum would have been denied by the bunker. The obstruction penalties have really become a farce at times and you really don't know which way they will go with them.
I would like to see Paix replace Turps to see how he goes. I really think he deserves it after his trial form but unfortunately I think Kev will probably stick with Turps.

And that is why the dogs will never be anything. When your coach gets up there and tries to point fingers at the ref and blame everyone but his team, it really highlights the culture in the squad.

After you have 59% possesion, 20 offloads against 2 and win the penalty count 6-3 you then go and try and blame the loss on what wasn't even a howler of a decision. Did it deserve to be looked at? Yes Oates made some contact so it deserved a look but its probably 50/50 at best.

As much as i dream of our coach one day getting up there and making a song and dance about a rough call, I'm glad we never do because its a bad look.

Maybe instead of whinging he should have a look at how his boys despite making 100 less tackles then us were absolutely gassed.

Here's an idea trent, maybe dont use 3 of your 8 f**king interchanges on the one bloke (tpj) in the hope he will connect one of his swinging arms and take one of our boys out.

That has absolutley shit me to tears and i now hope the bulldogs get the spoon again and Barret get sacked by round 10 for pulling that shit.

* 4 interchanges (off, on, off, on) to give him 3 stints with a breather in between each. I noticed that too. The cat could only handle 15 minutes at a time.
