I'd suggest Haas is a better chance than Walters if Reynolds, Capewell, and Carrigan were all out. He'll be on the field longer. Even Oates maybe, or Riki possibly. Walters would have to be a long shot, I think, in anyone's mind but those with predisposition for thinking he's the source of all of our woes.
Nah billy is older and never been arrested. Riki will never captain, he will be blacklisted for giving billy a serve on the field last year. I thought of Oates too but every time he speaks I think maybe when he was young he needed cpr from almost drowning. He is a catch and run type footy player, not an ideas man. I’m also banking on it happening a bit later in the season, once billy has settled into his role. if it happens in the first half I know I’m screwed and it will be capewell.

no trial games either btw.

I’m happy to wire $40 to a bhq or other neutral account, or even one of you 2. Long time til next year kicks off, I could be dead or suffering from dementia by then and would hate anybody to think I was dodging. If I win but never collect consider it an inheritance.

@Superfreak

Absolutely, no trial matches.

Must be an NRL match and I propose another condition, the player that's named captain must play. For example, Walters gets named captain but pulls out before the game and Capewell takes the duties for the match.

Or do you want it to be that they only have to be named captain? I'm happy either way.

probably If they are named it counts as a win, or maybe not because sometimes coaches play silly buggers with the media maybe we should do it your way. It’s a tricky one because it’s so obscure. Let the shed decide…..plus coaches have been known to name someone but on game day a different player takes the duties even though joe blow was the bloke with the c next to his name. Also not entirely fussed which condition.

Also I think if they both make the origin team or Australia and one captains it should count. Not just nrl games.

We've been blind to it the whole time - Mal's answer at seven isn't DCE or Cleary. It'll be a late call up for Skip Walters to lead the Roos to a glorious World Cup victory!

Things people will complain about, "The". Things that are just fine, numerous pages of someone trying to work out a bet that absolutely nobody else gives a shit about. Shut up

Only you could find something to have a cry about regarding this.

Not crying at all, just don’t care about you throwing your money away on a stupid bet and the fact it’s taken so long to actually organise just proves how dumb the conversation is.

By my reckoning the pecking order of captaincy for 2023 should be this:

Reynolds
Carrigan
Capewell
Haas
Walsh

The chance of Reynolds being injured and Carrigan, Capewell and Haas being out on Origin duty is fairly high, so Walsh should stand a reasonable chance of being considered. He would grab it with both hands and make a great stand in captain.

But the reality is probably more like this:

Reynolds
Capewell
Carrigan
Walters

So, in my opinion, the chance of Tommy being right is even higher.

Capewell has to be playing though.

i'll give you 5:1 up to 10k, dm me
Just out of interest: how do you see Billy's career trajectory over the course of his contract?

There seems to be four schools of thought:

1. He'll get picked every week at either 9 or 14, while the other number keeps being rotated between QLD Cup players. By Origin he'll be the butt of all derision and Kevvie will be copping abuse for it. The insult "nepotism" will trend on Twitter after every Broncos match. It wasn't good enough last season. It won't be good enough next season.

2. He's great depth, versatile, hard working, costs very little and is ideal for that rainy day that might come along during the Origin series. He won't be our starting hooker.

3. He's a handy 14 who can play halfback, five-eighth and hooker equally well. We're lucky to have found him.

4 Somehow, through no fault of anyone, he's our only option. Quit complaining and carry on.

If Haas becomes captain, does he get a pay rise? If so, sign him up!
