Actually we were, we may have been premiers in 1992, but we very much suffered a premiers hangover in 1993 that saw us just slip into the finals in 5th spot with some key injuries including Renouf and Matterson and no one at that stage had ever won a premiership from 5th spot. We had to win 3 finals games in Sydney just to qualify for the GF.
Not to nine year old me we weren’t. I was a lot less cynical back then. I knew st George couldn’t play. Later that night Alfie langer would sing a song he wrote based on my thoughts.

They didn’t slip in; they lost the last round and that was 5th then. It was two points between first and fifth. They beat Dragons at ANZ they come second. Third, fourth and fifth all finished with 16 wins.

Favourites going into the GF even being the let ranked team, I believe?

Though Kev said in the presser after we smashed the Storm grubs that the switch of our centers is not planned but just happened, I kind of feel that our coaching staff would include it in our game plan along with Maroons setup for Cleary come Sunday.
Which is a furphy I think because Staggs and Herbie were swapping again in the Warriors game. Before the Storm game i'd not seen it before, or noticed at least.

I was told as Panthers are the higher seed they get first pick...
One of the perks of placing higher on the ladder. As well as choice of dressing room for the final too.

Edit: Just saw this was answered above previously.

Ok so 12 minutes into the game and we've been attacking the panthers line for the past two sets but they repel us. Score is nill all.

We get a penalty in front of the sticks for a high shot.

Are you taking the 2? Or keeping the pressure on and continuing to attack?

I'd take the tap, they'll take the two.

Nope, no grindy stop start shit for this one. Go for the throat. We need to be fast and relentless.

Take the two gift points and keep rolling through them.

Also im not worried at all, i was more nervous before the Melbourne game than this one.
We got these pussycats in the bag.

When in attack, players popping up at unusual positions would definitely put off the defensive side. Week 1 of our finals is a perfect example.

This is what Kotoni has to say about the switching of sides

He comes over [to my side] and has a run and I am just helping him out and trying to save his lungs, so I go over there and fill in for a little bit for him," Staggs said.
“It's just something that we've worked on at training and if he comes over our side, I just don't want to make him run all the way over there, so I help him out.

I think theres probably abit more to it but it's something theyve been working on.

Agree. I’d rather be camped in their end applying pressure and getting repeat sets if not scoring a try. Penalty shot means they have a breather and get to restart with a kick off to the other end.
