2017 Line-Ups

This is how I'd go. It's tempting to bring in Hess/Munster for Cooper/O'neil though.

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Chambers
4. O'neil
5. Gagai
6. JT
7. Cronk
8. Napa
9. Smith
10. Myles
11. Thaiday
12. Gillett
13. McGuire

14. Papalii
15. Cooper
16. Lillyman
17. Morgan

Apparently if you are a true queenslander you trust Slater, so He should still be picked
That's the problem with ZT

1. Boyd
2. Oates (must be in need the meters with a weak pack)
3. Chambers
4. Gagai
5. Holmes
6. JT
7. Cronk
8. Napa
9. Smith
10. Papalii
11. Cooper
12. Gillet
13. McGuire
14. Morgan (no better options at moment [only if Milf could defend...] and can come on as lock after 30 mins and let McGuire help cover Prop)
15. Hess
16. Lillyman
17. Thaiday (might have to do some prop work given options are so short since Scott injured)
18. Myles (by sheer incumbency)

Slater not done enough. Been out too long for incumbency and has been defensively caught on wing before. Could use him as a super sub in a crunch with Boyd able to play 1-6 if injuries and slater to fullback but don't see the point due to age and positional chaos.

Going to be tough this year undersized and short on top quality props, centres and lock. Second row isn't even that great unless someone can remind Gillet how to attack and Hess stands up. Morgan has been plum average and is showing how good Jt makes him look, if anyone Corey Norman is playing like next in line for halves and that is a worry. Need to inject some youth to avoid the shock next year with big questions about if or would Cronk, Scott, Inglis, Slater, Thaiday, Myles be eligable or good enough for next year.

Next prop in line is tough. Reluctantly on form might be Wallace but suspect he would be badly exposed in Origin. Next year ESE ESE if continues to develop and doesn't get second year syndrome.

Ese'ese is a New Zealander.

I said it when he was at the Pride. Lowe just has something about him. He is like Mogg he would do a great job. He was terrific last night off the bench and had a great impact.

Scott Bolton really is putting his hand up for selection.

Kevvie has some tough choices to make.

Wallace will feature in this years Origin series I feel sure. We've plenty to choose from this year.

Surely Myles will **** off this year. Bloke has been excellent for us in the past, but he's playing in the NSW Cup at the moment. Lots of unfancied forwards putting their hands up at the moment though.

Myles will be one of the first picked, and I won't have any problem if he is.

Myles always does the job for QLD. His form in club land hasn't been good for years, but he always grows an extra leg for QLD.

Regardless of unbreakables fate, if Wallace was to be picked, surely he'd start as he isn't that impact style player that Sammy and Papalli are, but more so in the Scott mould.

Really? He was pretty good off the bench for us the last two years and was what started the whole debate about @Unbreakable quitting the forum.

Backline:

Assuming Morgan or Milf are bench utilities. Then 7 guys are trying to fit into 5 spots at the back.

Boyd
Slater
Oates
Gagai
ONeil
Chambers
Holmes

Considering Boyd, Chambers and Holmes are in the Aus 13, and ONeil is in the squad -- then you would think the two to miss out will be Slater and 1 out of Oates/Gagai. So maybe Slater and Gagai miss out... But that's an extremely sickening call to make, leaving those two guns and QLD servants out of it. Possibly Oates gives way to Gagai, and they review after Game 1.

Forwards:

I'm with those that think Hess is a walking mistake or penalty, at this stage of his career, and needs at least another year.

We have to assume Papa, Gillett and Sammy are there.

McGuire and Napa will also come in.

So we need 3 out of these:

Lillyman
Cooper
Guerra
Lowe
Hess
Wallace
Myles
Lawrence

And I think that list is the pecking order at present.

Gagai has been great for QLD, can't see him missing out. Also have a feeling they'll go with Slater in the 1 and Boyd on the wing. Don't shoot the messenger btw, just my gut feeling.

Don't mind your reasoning but Guerra is a pedestrian moreso in recent years. Wouldn't object to Lowe for this series in a crunch but big picture is next couple of years and need to blood new talent. Only concern is damaging Hess's confidence with a disaster. But even Hodges game back to be a great. If we had the troops now he'd be a game 3 special but we don't so time to make a big call and show faith in the kid. As for Wallace happy to be wrong but if ever picked out of desperation then he's one of the few players happy to say one game and done NSW style if doesn't show something special.
