RUMOUR James Roberts to re-sign for three years

Hunt not on 1.2 million with us... in fact not even close

Thank the gods. Let the dipshit Dragons bear the cap dead weight.

Hunt had a good game on Thursday but it's odds on he has a shocker against the Eels to counterbalance it, as usual.

Re-signing Roberts is a don't argue situation. He is the sort of quality strike weapon we haven't had since Renouf

The problem with Hunt is that he has "great moments" but overall his games since the GF loss have been average to 'F$#% me dead - drop the bastard'.

As others have pointed out maybe a change of scenery will be good for him so long as he plays like $h!t when facing us next year. :superhappythumbsup:

They should of signed Roberts early on in the year when his stock was low due to another drunken incident.

That's the problem with players these days, they seem to magically play their best football in their final year on contract.

Roberts would have still been worth about the same as what he would get now.

The Broncos wanted to see if he could keep himself out of trouble before bothering with him and facing the possibility of paying for him while he is carving up for another club. It was his second drunken incident in less than a year.

I love KNik! You can tell he really wants to be a Bronco, what a little champion.

As for Roberts, if we don't offer him 550k at least + TPAs, we are idiots.
Niko is becoming my favourite player
Incredible attitude
"If he doesn't think that I'll be there next week then that's his call. I'll back him 100 per cent," Nikorima said, no doubt music to the ears of a man such as Bennett.
"I love this team and I love this club. It shows that I just re-signed for three years so I'll leave that up to Wayne and whatever he decides I'll just go with it.
"Obviously nothing's guaranteed [in terms of playing halfback next year]. I've got to work hard for that but for this year I want to be in the 17 every week.
"I'll just keep training hard and keep trying to play some good games out on the paddock."

He's our very own Tyrion Lannister. He's gonna rule the world [emoji13]

Huge fan of Niko, very happy we re-signed him for 3 years.
I mentioned it in the live thread yesterday, but for a little bloke I don't think I've seen him dragged back once, a lot of smaller players get dragged back every other tackle.

TBF, it happened twice last night. One where he was bringing it back and he got driven back about 5 metres (he wasn't the only one though). And the other one where he wasn't so much driven back but stopped dead in his tracks - where he attacked that bouncing ball and ran full boar and was easily stopped & dropped by a defender where a bigger player would have bumped them off at that speed.

Not taking anything away from him, just saying.

Jack bird wanting a release from broncos again via the lurker hope this is true hes causing so much shit up here

Lurker trying hard to getting him to back out. Only way he backs out is if Bennett has signed that 7 from down the road

Not once has Bird been quoted as wanting out, not once has e said a thing to indicate that. As much as some would like it to be true, the Lurker is most likely once again making things up.

Yep wouldn't be disappointed at all if he didn't play for us. That money he'd be getting can better spent else where.

Brisbane Broncos’ James Roberts to sign a new deal with the club

THE Jet will not be departing Brisbane, with lightning centre James Roberts to ink a new deal with the Broncos.

Roberts will become the latest player to commit to Wayne Bennett’s premiership pursuit when he signs off on a likely three-year extension, possibly as early as next week.

Roberts ripped the Bulldogs apart with a scintillating two-try performance at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday night to prove he could be Brisbane’s X-factor in the finals series.

The 24-year-old took his season tally to 13 tries in 17 games in the Canterbury mauling, busting six tackles and running for 149m.

It was feared Roberts may leave Brisbane in search of more money, but stand-in Broncos captain Adam Blair said he had to stay at Red Hill to realise his potential.

“This is where he should be,” he said. “It’s a good place for him to be. He seems to be enjoying himself.

“We all know there is a salary cap and we can’t keep everyone here but we’ve signed pretty much everyone up. It would be good to see Jimmy hang around.

“He is so fast and strong. He is great to have in your team, especially when you get tiring forwards around the middle.

“He is someone that can take the game on, on his own. It’s great to see he’s enjoying himself.”

Roberts had interest from Sydney clubs but the Broncos will reward him for the form he has shown this season with an upgraded deal.

The former Rabbitohs, Panthers and Titans speedster has had a stable season after attending a rehabilitation centre in Thailand last year following alcohol-related incidents.

Broncos utility Benji Marshall said Bennett’s influence had helped turn Roberts’ career around.

“He’s had a few dramas at other places off the field,” Marshall said.

“With the help of Wayne and guys he has around him, it keeps him pretty grounded here. You can see that happiness is reflecting on the field.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a more dynamic player off the mark than what he is. He showed out there that he is one of the hardest guys to tackle.

“If he decides to stay around it’s great for the club but that’s up to Jimmy. Like I say to every player, you’ve got to do what’s best for you and your family. They are the things you weigh up.

“Football is limited to probably 10 years if you’re lucky. You’ve got to make the most while you can because a lot of footy players don’t have a lot away from footy.

“I encourage them to do what’s best for their families. Hopefully Jimmy stays.”

Roberts will join Anthony Milford, Andrew McCullough, Josh McGuire, Corey Oates, Alex Glenn, Kodi Nikorima and Joe Ofahengaue as players to have re-signed with the Broncos this season.

Really, how? Not one of these 'stories' has a single quote from Bird. Is it Bird's fault if other people make up sh*t about him?

Last official comment I read was that he was excited about coming on-board next year...

Nice. Get it done.

The Broncos have clearly been waiting for clarification with the Salary Cap to sign these guys. What a shame the NRL is a joke and couldn't get it all squared away earlier in the season.

So excited to have the Jet stay with us, bloody love watching him play. Not to sound like a cliche commentator but geeze he reminds me of a 2005-2007 Hodgo and Renouf everytime he gets the ball I think something cool is gonna happen now. Bloody love it.
