Which clubs actually make a serious profit? Us, the Dogs, Roosters, who else? So we have 4-6 teams basically propping up the league, but with a salary cap we have to watch scum clubs like the Storm and Eagles dominate by bending the rules (either by flat out cheating the cap and rules of the game, or with heavily back ended contracts) without repercussions. The rest of the clubs are just flat out bad and wouldn't see much of a difference performance wise if the cap was gone.

So Bulldogs got what they wanted?

So we effectively have an extra 200k to spend?

Gold Coast Titans skipper Ryan James has pleaded with club officials to stand by Neil Henry, taking aim at recent reports suggesting young halves Ash Taylor and Kane Elgey want the coach sacked.
In an emotional press conference following the Titans' 30-8 loss to Parramatta on Thursday night, Henry reiterated his desire to continue coaching the club amid strong suggestions he may have just coached his last game of NRL.
The feud between Henry and Jarryd Hayne, who missed Thursday's game through injury, has spilt over into the playing ranks with the majority understood to be standing by the embattled coach.
James fired up over reports suggesting Taylor and Elgey had given the club an ultimatum that they would walk if the coach wasn't sacked, admitting the duo were "rattled" by the back page in a Queensland newspaper.
"You can say allegedly from an unnamed source and you can say anything. It's BS," James said.
"I know the media came out and said it and I don't know how good their sources are because two young kids are rattled."
Henry addressed the topic with both players, in particular Elgey who was quite upset about the story.
"I tried to settle down Kane," Henry said.
"He was really upset when the back page came out. He was rattled wondering where that came from. He addressed that and Ash Taylor said the same thing.
"That's disruptive. It would be for any team and certainly for our players. They have to try to put that aside and get on with the business."
The Titans board will meet this week, where it is expected Henry will likely face the sack given a strong belief the working relationship between he and Hayne has passed its expiry date.
But Henry insists he is still the right man for the job.
"The players are saying there are no broader issue and they have been very supportive," Henry said.
"What the board does with the information is up to them. They have the governance at the club. They hire me. It will be up to them to make a decision and I'll abide by that decision. But I am not going to walk away from a job I think I should be doing and will continue to do. Hopefully, as I said before, it is not my last game with the club. I am contracted and I want to stay here."
Despite the speculation about his future, Henry continues to front to answer the tough questions. He admits it's taken a toll on his and his family's life but is desperate to soldier on through the hard times.
"You can try to deflect some of it but it is hard," Henry said.
"It is not just me, it is your family and people who know you. But we have a lot off support out there and I am a realist about things. You can't control a lot of stuff that is happening. I have to represent the club and get these boys playing the football they can play.
"It has been pretty relentless. That comes with it but it is not pleasant. I am determined to stay there until I hear otherwise. We're trying to build something on the coast. There is a plan and it is a young roster. There are some good performances in our seven wins that say the club has a future."

At least Jack Bird has had a bit of a break from the media's crap while they are distracted by the Titans.

Penrith will go into their crucial clash with Canberra on Sunday boosted by news Anthony Griffin will be the club's long-term coach.
The Panthers have won six consecutive matches to climb into the top eight, but must continue the run to ensure they remain there. Griffin is contracted until the end of 2018, but the streak has convinced club officials to offer him a new deal that will keep him at the foot of the mountains until the end of 2020.
The former Broncos coach enjoyed immediate success after switching to Penrith last year and has got the side back on track after a slow start to 2017. Griffin's reward will be a new contract that will be announced soon.
"He's part of the long-term future development our young kids," Panthers chief executive Bryan Fletcher said.

Having an ex-NRL player as your CEO. That would explain why they are keeping Griffindor.

Was that really the quote? Important preposition missing.

Well, all of the members have a tough call ahead next weekend !!

Which team are you cheering for next weekend when Cronulla take on tbe Roosters ?????

The facts are simple, should we win and the Roosters lose we wrap up second place HOWEVER if that result flips we will have to beat the Cows at home and hope for the away from home Titans to beat the Roosters....not likely.

Even if both the Roosters and the Broncos win next weekend we still have to beat the Cows as surely the Chooks will beat the Titans so whose with me in saying, through gritted teeth, Up Up Cronulla ???? Ha ha ha ha

Can't they both lose? How is a sane person supposed to make a choice?

Fucking Cows ruined my tipping.
And mine ! I've never tipped a whole round in my life, not once. Naturally I've been close and was thinking this could be the one ! Still, there'll be joy this season...cowboys out, hopefully at our hands but maybe by next weekend...the Sharks limping into the finals, bloodied beaten but unbowed only to fail when realising one grand finals enough and they just didn't have the bones of the mighty Broncos '93 side.

in saying, through gritted teeth, Up Up Cronulla ???? Ha ha ha ha

Huge, I've been around BHQ a long time, as have you, and I know you are absolutely not saying that through gritted teeth.

We all know how much you love the Sharkies, you can't hide it. :p

Well, that may have been very accurate in years gone by, hell I had no reason to make excuses, I've always had a soft spot for them but now that the curse is lifted, they can get fucked and I don't give a shit if they get three wooden spoons in a row !

That said, it's an easy and happy choice for me...a total win win not to mention my great mate Sharkie Benson gets a little more joy in his life.
