2017 Under 20's

Surely not.
Considering he is a forward, if he goes it'd be a poor career move. Players like arrow or Wallace you can understand-bench/18th-19th man to starting player, or players like moga or ese ese you can understand-$$$$ for players that have improved under us..

But a couple of spots have opened up for carrigan, he's unproven against qld cup level even so it wouldn't be a major $ increase, and he'd just be in the same situation (maybe would get a couple of bench games before he is even ready at best), whilst going to an unstable club with lower standards, poorer coaching and lower expectations and culture. If a player plays 20 games for the top of the table broncos with the right development, they are worth a lot more on the open market at 21-22 then they would be playing 40 games for a bottom 8 club with a poor development record.

This doesn't apply for positions that only have 1 position in a team and they are stuck behind a rep level type player (eg halfback, fullback) where they can't slowly bring them in and they just need a shot of course

why would it be a poor career move?
tpj was signed on big bucks for an untried nrl prospect. hass is the same.

if arrow had left red hill earlier he most likely would have played more nrl and earnt more bucks.
if bird is annointed the heir to the 13 jersey then why would carrigan sit around and rot, especially considering that bird is only a few years older than carrigan.

Do you think Su'A will stick around long term and play first grade more consistently next year?

Because he will be in the exact same situation at a club with poorer development pathways and a worse reputation.. Arrow is ahead of him at the titans

he could move to a lesser club and play grade and get game time. look at those kids coming through at the knights, safiti brothers, fitzgibbon etc. they prob dont get a game anywhere else but now they are pretty well established first graders who are going great.

it doesnt mean carrigan is going to sign at the titans, he can stay or look elsewhere.
if you want to chat about development im not sure our recent record of junior development is all that crash hot.

That's exactly my point... he is going to a lesser club WITHOUT the perk of extra game time. He will be behind arrow there, here he will be behind bird or McGuire. Possibly tpj, depending where Bennett puts him

I do know you know a lot about development, but surely you have to agree we could make a team out of the players we have developed but currently play for other teams that would beat the titans first grade squad at the moment so I think we are doing a little better then them at development, with their best players coming from us, and this is meant to be our rebuilding phase of that department with Bennett and Nolan back... we don't retain our developed players because we pick up better young players (eg tpj, bird, moga, ese ese) BECAUSE we have a great reputation for nurturing talent (Bennett more so then the club but the club has the facilities, team and structure to support that process).

if he stays at red hill he potentially faces 3 players in front of him for a position in the team. if he moves elsewhere he may only have 1 direct obstacle in front of him. i would rather sit behind 1 than potentially 3.

so if we develop players and then buy others in cause they are better then what would make you think that carrigan is going to be kept at all? rather than stack him out the back behind 3 others, wouldnt you rather see a kid get a chance to play some nrl footy if he is good enough.
he may well need to go elsewhere (doesnt have to be the titans) there are pkenty of clubs in the market.

But my point is titans would be a bad career move. If he went there he would still be behind arrow and pulu, and possibly king too. At the broncos he would be behind McGuire OR bird (if one gets picked the other will play a totally different position and stay there) + POSSIBLY tpj (he may be used as a prop or even 2nd row if a good enough prospect comes along).. so my point, which was the titans would be a bad career move because it takes away all the benefits of a strong team without taking him any higher up the pecking order (despite the players in front of him being weaker options they are still in front of him by a couple of years) still stands... another team is another point entirely. I said the TITANS would be a bad career move

That is a hell of an injury toll, they have done well to still be in contention for a playoff spot.

Currently 12-4 in the first half to the Broncos, Burns scores a great try and converts.
