Broncos need ..... ????

Milford shouldn't have to be the dominant half though that's not what playing 5/8 is.

you would be right ... if it was 15 years ago ... but times have changed.

in the days of the salary cap, teams can no longer afford 2 superstar halves.

the can have 1 superstar half (dominant half) and 1 supporting act ... and it doesn't matter which of the halves are which (especially given modern half play where they each generally just play one side of the field)

If Milford wants to get the superstar (dominant) halves pay check, then he needs to be the dominant half. If he doesn't want to be the dominant half, then we need to find someone who does and give him the big pay check and give Milf the supporting halves paycheck which is usually much smaller

Absolutely on board with a 1 year deal for Carney.

Even if he comes back at 60% the player he was before he left, he'll still be a better Halfback than Nikorima. And it won't hinder our salary cap for our pursuit of Taylor in 2019.

It just reeks of a panic signing and having no long term plans. I haven't been paying too much attention to the Carney situation but has he actually stated he will play under a train and trial?? We only got Benji cheap because he literally had no other option is this the same situation with Carney?? Would you be willing to take a chance on Carney for $250k-$300k if he had other options??

right now if we get an injury to the halves we would be stuffed. next season if Knik or Milf go down, we don't have any realistic backup.

we will get Carney cheap and have a a half that has lead his team to a premiership as a back up.

Broncos need...

Consecutive form
Less injuries
One halfback with experience and good kicking game
To get Milford a kicking coach
A Couple position changes with Blair and Moga leaving (Fingers cross we bring Opacic in for Mogas replacement i like the kid)
Hunt ended up being a replacement hooker for half the season for Macca but wouldn't you think we would've got a Halfback signing before he left i just don't want Niko being a grounded Halfback for 2018...

Other then that i think we can still win next year if we fix those leaks and bits up.

We also need a back up hooker we have no one literally no one.

I thought his running game was his strong point ?
Absolutely! Running game has always been his strongest asset.
As much as he was quality, he's not the organiser we need to pair with Milf/Kodi, and his age and lifestyle will certainly mean he has slowed down a fair bit...

This is just silly.

Lucky was the superstar, with Perry and later Wallace as his organising halfbacks. Milf can do exactly the same and choose his moments to inject himself.

I reckon we have zero chances of getting Ash Taylor back at the club due to us having **** all left in our piggy bank.
So for those of you in the know, do we have room within our budget to make a play for Taylor for 2018? Given that we are shedding Thaiday but also have to pay for his replacement...
It seems like everyone I talk to are all hanging all hopes on getting Taylor back, so am I wrong in thinking we have Buckleys?

Sounds hard to believe, but Carney is a Bennett player.

Hear me out.

Dale Shearer. Julian O'Neil. Anthony Mundine. Wendell Sailor. Mark Gasnier. James Roberts.

Some busts, some premierships.

But for all the flack about "Bennett-ball" -- x-factors that can flat-out play breath-taking rugby league is the core of what Bennett loves - and he loves a "project player" -- just look at the suffering he inflicted on us this year with Moga.

Gasnier?

He sent a bunch of lewd text messages and walked out on the game when they failed to honour their deal.

But you could be right. Bennett does have a penchant for signing players way past their best. Craig Gower, Danny Buderus, Willie Mason, Timana Tahu and PJ Marsh come to mind.

We have gotten rid of alot of players dont forget

Game tonight in terrible terrible conditions.

Australian Schoolboys 26 (Ky Rodwell, David Fifita, Luke Huth, James Roumanos tries; Zac Lomax 4 goals; Zac Lomax penalty goal) New Zealand 18s Select 18 (Dray Ngatuere-Wroe, Lewis Sio, Seth Tauamiti tries; Baylee Bentley-Hape 2 goals)

Lomax at centre was impressive. Boyd at half was strong and combined really well with his forwards.

How did Fifita go?

Just curious is all . Haven't seen him play, whats his strengths?

@Smokin' Joe and @talanoa probably would have seen a bit more of him than me but from what I have seen he is a game managing halfback.

He has great passing, running and kicking game and uses those smartly.

we don't have an organizing halfback to pair along side Milford right now ... and i can't think of one that is even half decent that we could get for what we could afford given we have spent our cash on Milford

Ash Taylor is a bit of a whinged on the field as well. Him and milf will have death stare offs

I think Carney would be a good pick up. Put as half with milf. Knick either bench utility as 2015 or putting in at qcup level building his skill set. I would give carney a 1 year deal with a 2nd year option.
