Are the fans "over" the Broncos?

Then he signs with KFC where the players can choose however many nuggets they want.

Repeat sets. Is 24 nuggets enough to get you over the line?

So you're saying Hunt lost his job because Milford was being selfish and wanted too much and Hunt was willing to sacrifice himself for Milfs happiness?

What? No. I'm just saying Hunt sucks and Milford is fat. Stop reading too much in to these games.

The fact this question is being asked and we are being bagged out/ridiculed/condemned for finishing 3rd shows how big a club we are haha. Even Manchester United fans would be branded spoilt if they were asking the same, and they dont have a salary cap! Yes we haven't won for 6 of those years bennett can't be blamed for and he's doing pretty well cleaning up the mess Cullen has created (2nd, 5th, 3rd).
This team and the coaching staff aren't where we are having issues. It's the medias manipulation of the nrl. They continually push this "Brisbane have an unfair advantage" so much that it would be a massive-against the odds premiership if we win one. Case in point: "Brisbane are always offside (numerous commentators pointed out that every team does it every set)- next game we get a pivotal penalty for being offside on a 5th tackle when we had them pinned and they were threw a forward pass: by a linesman, a bloody linesman! whens the last time they had a say in a match?! 1994?!.
Everyone is going on about 2015 like we have went backwards from it. We haven't! The nrl has gone backwards. Look at the grand final and the way the 2 teams in it played. The attacking teams were rewarded and the speed of the play the ball was ridiculously fast compared to this year. Now watch the game against the storm. Every tackle we were spun on our back and twisted towards our own in goal AFTER the ref called held. Every tackle! I'm sure someone can find it but I'd love to see the data on the number of play the balls each game this year compared to 2015. The reasons for this are simple: the HIA is getting manipulated so that the 8 interchange is now null and void when combined with fitter teams, this means the wrestle is prominent because the players don't need to save energy. The other reason is that the spotlight has gone off of the wrestle again. It's actually worse then 4-5 years ago. Super league, 90's games and the 2015 season were so much more attractive football. This year we have a team that has gotten in to the gf due to wrestling dominance and a team that runs nearly EVERY TRY off the back of the player who skittles 3 players and gets quick play the balls (nullifying the wrestle).

We have a great footy team that plays the type of footy I want my team to play (when it's on there is no more exciting team yet we are not rewarded for it) but sadly, if we are going to win a premiership in the next 2-3 years Bennett has to change a couple of things.... 1. We have to bite the bullett and focus on wrestling, 2. He has to make friends with the media

Has any one got any information of how much weight Milford has put on from 2015?

My theory is that WB is jaded and realises that the best outcome is not a 'premiership at all costs', but for the men he is in charge of to leave the game healthy and wealthy.

I don't blame him if this is true TBH, life is bigger than the game.

Well Wayne needs to sit down and decide over a cupper whether he wants to be a rugby league coach or a financial planner.

Maybe you're right though, Wayne at his age, probably doesn't have that desire to win at all costs but would rather be a grandpa figure to his players. I mean he let his grandkids run amok, they got flogged by the eels and he wasn't even angry.

Am I “over” the Broncos? No, I guess the Broncos will always be my team. I might try and tell myself that I don’t care anymore but if I don’t care, why does it still hurt 3 days after Friday’s dismal ending?

I AM “over” the way the game is run by the NRL and how it affects the Broncos and I worry about the direction the Broncos are taking (but that’s another story).

I am absolutely sick to death of watching the Broncos have to fight with one hand tied behind their backs during State of Origin and the players come back as a spent force for the rest of the season. We’re not the only ones to have to do it but we’ve been carrying the State of Origin team for a long time and Melbourne and North Queensland have only recently started to share the load.

I stopped following or watching State of Origin about 7 years ago because I hate how it has cruelled our premiership chances year after year. We always seem to meet our bogie teams, the Warriors and Storm during State of Origin, we almost always plummet down the ladder and then we have to scrape and claw to make the finals. I am a season ticket holder and I struggle to retain interest in the NRL competition during SOO. I like to see young rookies get a shot at the NRL but how is it fair to send a patched-up or busted Broncos side to NZ to take on a full strength Warriors side who smash us??

I AM “over” the NRL’s decision to abolish the NYC Under 20’s competition and fail to replace it with any other sort of ‘reserve grade’ competition. One of the highlights for me as a Broncos supporter has always been following our junior development. We get to Suncorp Stadium when gates open and watch every minute of the under 20’s game. We go to early season trial matches, we go to a few Q Cup games every year to watch Broncos feeder teams and we went to Maroochydore this year to watch the Storm v Broncos under 20s game.

I phoned the Broncos Membership team recently and asked what games would be played before the NRL games in 2018 and was told they weren’t sure, maybe some Intrust Super Cup Games or some University competition games or some junior games. They had no answer to my question, “Why should I pay the same amount of money for a season ticket when there’s only one game of interest to me?”

It would be much easier for me to forgo the 3 hour round trip to Suncorp Stadium and watch the game from my couch if there’s only one game on offer. The only comeback the Membership Team had was that “there’s a great atmosphere attending a live game”. I know it’s not the Broncos fault but it just makes me more disillusioned with the game in general.

Spleen vented. I need to go and hibernate for the off season.

I for one, can never ever be over Broncos. Not in this lifetime. It’s been 4 years since I watched a Broncos game at Suncorp or at any SHITney grounds but, come Friday (why the hell it has to be ONLY this day every week almost every season???), I will be glued to my TV for the game to begin. Every year during March – September is the period I look forward to and every Friday early morning (been living in The States and Broncos game starts at 3.45AM local time) I am more excited about.

Being from Queensland, there I like Origin but my admiration and excitement is solely to Broncos ONLY…..as someone pointed earlier here that if we win the premiership every year, we might not enjoy the success over a period of time. But boy oh boy, I will take the premiership every year for that matter. We get blabbered every year before and after every game by tom, dick and harry. So, premiership every year would be a sweet revenge on those dick heads who think that they are geniuses and knew everything. All the pumpkins keep muttering garbage on Broncos all the time. Stop being jealous you low lifes!!!

As for 2017, I reckon it’s a good effort from the boys but, claiming the authority over the opponents during clutch moments or come back from behind to beat the opponents is missing. The last 2 games against Roosters and first half vs Storm is ours for taking but, we couldn’t…..I wonder why the boys are looking for someone else to do the job? Why can’t they themselves take the initiative and beat the crap out of the opponents game plan? The STRUCTURE been really missing. Darius is nowhere near as a mongrel nor is motivational and commanding. He has to develop those astute skills and talk to boys and demand from them all the time. It’s not just him, the team needs to start believing in the Mighty Broncos culture again. They must start winning the clutch moments. They did it in 2015 (for 79min58sec) so, it’s not something they are strangers to….all they need to do come next year season is, dig deep to perform 80 min to win the premiership.

As of 2018, boy, where should I start? First and foremost, our half’s need to be hell lot better. They are not big in size and so is their defense so, they are & will be soft targets to opponents game plan. Now, how do we overcome that is another worry. Milford needs to show that he’s a Million$ player. His kicking game needs a lot of improvement. He must command the play more often. Should we get Kevvy or Locky to get those skills drilled into him then yeah, we should do that. Our forward pack, needs to be lot better….people keep saying that bigger pack doesn’t always guarantee success but I for one, would love to see a bigger pack with mongrel than we had in the last 2 years. I hope the boys do better next season.

He seems to think Boyd left here on his own accord and not realise he only left this club because he was told he wasn't being offered a new contract. Bennett threw him a lifeline and he has never looked back. Boyds got what some clubs kill for, loyalty to those who have shown it to them.

Fair point my mistake. I thought he was offered the door after the little night club incident but that may have been afterwards. He wasn't sacked as still had a year in his favour.

True loyalty is a two way street but life is usually messy and who deserves loyalty is a complicated topic. I suspect Boyd is just a regular guy who has his troubles who like most of us look after number one first. The idea of true club loyalty is for the most part dead and in the current system of disposable players should be dead. For example, Boyd sat out a fair chunk of season with knights and repaid their fans well for 3 years of crap service (although complicated by the management shambles and pay issues - I would leave).

Not a criticism and not saying broncos are faultless but I perhaps have too much nostalgia for the one club player, or even those that leave for a little and realise where home is.

What concerns me with Boyd is while most players would be tempted to follow Bennett if he left again, Boyd has demonstrated it repeatedly where his priority is. Strikes me as unhealthy to the fabric of the club.

I'll never be "over" the Broncos either, no matter how good or bad they go each year, no matter how much origin or the referees try to rub us out of games. I'm Broncos through and through, we are the best damn rugby league club in the world!

Yup file me under the 'Broncos tragic' category, for better or for worse. A few people are talking about how we actually did quite well this season, but for the first time in a couple of years now - even more so than last year - my most common feeling after Broncos games this season was relief. Relief to have edged out the Raiders or the Rabbits, or to have had to (exciting winning try aside) come from behind to beat the Titans. Relief to have piled on some points late to beat Manly and the Knights. It's just not the same as sitting back in exultation that we had a close, hard fought victory or dominated from start to finish and pumped a team, so we've been frustrating in that regard. The NRL is as much to blame as we are, but that doesn't make it easier to swallow. Regardless I'm here for the long haul.

Oh and since I live in NZ I only generally get to see the boys live once every year, so as mentioned several times the fact that this is generally during the Origin period and we get smashed is pretty dismal for me. Last time we won over here was early on back in '15, and prior to that... well, let's just say Henjak was the coach. It's hard lol.

As much as some things they do sh*t me to tears at times (last Friday night as an example) I am a rusted on Broncos fan and will be lining up for my membership ticket again next year...

As salty as I am right now by late January I’ll have the sh*ts with the summer heat, cricket, motorsport, A league and will be itching for the return of the NRL and the Broncs more importantly.

A few good signing announcements over the next month or two would ease the salt too, just quietly...

Are you saying @broncos4life has a horse face?

I'm saying more than that, I'm saying he has a dickhead face....

The dude is nigh on 12 foot tall. He has to have one thing common with a horse.

Broncos to the day I die.
Thanks for 2017.
Freshen up and we will see you March 2018.
