Has anyone found the inner strength to rewatch last night's game?
'
I'm trying to work myself up to it, but I'm procrastinating with things like, scrubbing the shower, toilet, and doing laundry...

Did Walters say anything about carrying a back on the bench moving forward?

I'm guessing the high standard nrl journalists didn't think to ask a question that is not controversy hunting but something fans would like to know....

The obsession with carrying a back on the bench needs to stop.

I don't think it's super warranted. Last night we lost 5, 2, 6 and 7.... no bench is going to cover that.

But they weren't alone and I wrote as much in my post. The entire team was outplayed and now they have to go through the rest of the season without their chief organiser. Anyway you want to dice it, tonight wasn't acceptable and fans have a right to be upset.

This was a statement game and the end result was 40-18 loss against an under-strength Roosters outfit at home.
Cheer up. You have decided it was a statement game when in reality it was one game in round 9.

There was no covering the backs tonight. We lost our halfback, winger and five eight and lost a back to the bin.

Could have a bench full of backs and you would still need blokes out of position. Tonight wasn't a coaching problem
Sure was a coaching problem, lost backs last week and Walters didn't learn anything. Sailor should be there to cover all back positions plus hooker.Walters average son can't play 80mins so compensates with extra hooker on the bench, even the 18th man was also a prop? Our second phase play and off loads were non existence Mam and Walsh are the most dynamic players yet not running off our forwards.
Need a young talented halfback and good number 9 and this team would be untouchable.

I'd like to blame the absolute bullshit sin-binning. It wasn't a binning when Penrith did it and took our player out. But tonight it is? **** right off you fucking corrupt scum.

It wasn't even on losing Reynolds. Or Arthars.

That loss was on Walsh, and the cocky little **** needs to pull his head in. Hold the fucking ball, build pressure, stop kicking early in the set. I was hoping the chips at the start of the game were to keep the Roosters defenders holding off (meaning there will be more space later when going the same way), but it means **** all if you don't hold the ball and never earn the follow-up opportunities. I said it a couple of weeks ago, if they haven't reigned him in yet, it'll be harder and harder as time goes on. Maybe Kev is playing 4D chess and was waiting for a loss to bring Walsh back down to earth, but this game has thrown in too many other excuses.
Can you remember a game we have won that was not because of Walsh ! Watch the game again and see how many Rooster trys Walters Jnr lets in through missed tackles or poor defensive reads.

Gosiewski is looking to me like an astute signing, we need him at 17 I think moving forward. A guy who is a legit second rower who can also play in the middle and centres to at least a competent level is like gold these days.

Show many how many teams run with 1 hooker in the modern game! Coaching not the problem last night. Mindset in defence and attack were the issues.

Those utility types are so valuable. We don’t really have any of them. What I would give for Max Plath!

Has he actually played any centre, my research indicates no?

Okay, my take on last night's fiasco. I think it is very premature to be writing our season off following that game.

I see last night's result as a real wake up call and now a test as to how good our team and coaching staff are.

We have not been playing good football, but still getting wins. We have been playing frantic nearly all season, and it was worse last night. As many others have said, we need to set the base for the flashy plays and we really need to learn to be patient to be able to build pressure like Penrith and the Storm do. I agree that we lost that game last night, just like we lost against the Storm earlier this season and we threw away the GF.

It is going to be a test of our maturity and our leadership whether we finally learn that lesson and change our approach. I also agree that our defence needs significant work.

Everyone needs to step up in Reynold's absence, but Madden should not place pressure on himself that he has to be the saviour. He just has to do his job and build his performance like he has been.

We are still in it this year. The entire focus this week has to be improving the above issues and making sure we beat Parra. Then start all over again and do the same with Manly. If they do that, week in and week out, we will still be in it when Reynolds returns. We just need to win the games we are expected to win and then try and jag a couple of wins where we are underdogs.

If Reynolds needs any other clean up surgery we should be insisting that he gets that done so when he comes back he comes back in the best possible shape.

If we come into the finals on a bit of a form surge without any major injuries and a fresh and fit Reynolds, we are still a huge chance in my view. As a whole the squad should see this period without Reynolds as an opportunity, not a burden.

G'day all. Our season reminds me of WB or rather his advice. The directions he provided work equally well on the field as they do in life.

He counselled practice well and thoroughly, go in to each situation without expectations yet prepared to accept the outcome, whatever it may be. A 'freeing up' if you will.

The Broncos need, like every other year to simply do the fundamentals well. Hard, directed practice and play without regard for the outcome.

A former world snooker champion was asked how he played like it was a weekday practice game during the World Titles and that was his philosophy too. Stop being concerned about the silverware, the public, the friends expectations and go and play like it's your last game ever. Have some fun, do your best and let the chips fall as they may.

KW's job is to free them up, depresurise the situation. Get them back to having fun.
