TBH, I think Brown knew the team was going to come last....again. He also clearly had no intention of retaining Hodkinson so decided to test his combinations for next year to get an idea of whether he could rely on them for 2018 or if he needed to chase someone else. For a year or 2 at a reasonable price, I'd definitely take him.
This happened for a few weeks and then Hodkinson was the starting half for the final ten games of the Knights season

I would take Hodgkinson.....
In fact I would take any signings right now in 7 and a back up 9.
Otherwise, sadly I don't think we will do anything for the next two years.
Our successful formula (2015) was Nikorima as a super sub, he ain't a start up 7. You can't have two small zippy halves (although great in attack) they become defensive liabilities and coaches aim big strong running guys e.g. McLean, Nelson, Cordner, G. Cooper etc straight at these guys 1 on 1 at our line and they can't defend them.
In my opinion if hodgkinson can kick, pass and defend well let's sign him on the cheap.
@Smokin' Joe @talanoa do we have anything on the horizon? Left centre? Hooker? Prop? Half?

I would take Hodkinson. If he can get on the mend then he will be a great buy. His kicking game will be much needed and unlike Pearce and Hunt he steps up in the big games. If I remember one year the Bulldogs won four or three games in a row off of his field goals and he also scored the series-winning try for the Blues (also due to DCE crap defense).

Would take hodkinson in a heartbeat, is exactly what this team needs. Really don’t understand the objection. We need an organiser with a good kicking game. Hodkinson is an organiser with a good kicking game. Done.

Yeah but milf isn't even close to being a lockear type player . We still need a solid foil for milf
Neither was Locky at 22... but having a player such as Perry or Wallace next to him, helped him develop as a more complete player, while still allowing him to pick his moments, rather than being forced to do the job of the halfback as well as his.

Nah he's rubbish from what I've watched of him, Nikorima is better.

I'm on board with the Hodkinson signing, 2 year deal, $250k a season, let's see what happens. If he sucks or gets injured, big deal, send him to QCUP like we did with Bunji.

Means we can also retain the young guys coming through and they can come through when they are ready.

Because he's supposedly a spent force. Hodkinson has already been discussed and discarded on here as a potential solution. Fully fit he'd be perfect. But from what the reports are he'll never be close to fully fit again.

Well that’s 2018 and 2019 down the tubes.

We won’t win a comp with Milf and Knik as halves.

Reality is we should have let Milf walk.

He ain’t worth 1 mil a year.
Do me a favour please! Gerara here!

Actually he was.

Locky was 22 in 1999. He was an absolute champion by that age. Look at some highlights from 1997 and 1998.

By 2002 (at 25) he was basically running the side.

Not shitting on Milf. He’s not Lockyer and any comparison is unfair.

But to suggest that because Lockyer (a future immortal) at 29 managed to get by with Perry or at 31 managed to get by with Wallace (who between 08 and 11 was actually quite good) Milford can do it now is fucking laughable.

Milford needs a halves partner who can lead him - Lockyer had Langer and Walters when he was young. Milford needs the same.
