Knights are crazy if they've offered Pearce a monster deal and let go of Hoko. I thought he was still good last season, and if we can get a hold of his injuries like we did with Moga then I think he can be very, very good for us. Didn't he play a fair bit of footy last season, be it that a fair portion of it was in reserve grade?

EDIT: We will be laughing all the way to the bank if we pick him up on reduced dollars w/ the Knights paying his salary.

You're kidding right? The whole comp will be laughing at us.

The bloke couldn't make it into the Newcastle side.

If we sign this bloke then I'll burn my membership right now.

oh and if Bennett signs him then he can can catch the first train to the old folks home because he has clearly gone senile.

Hodkinson ticks every box that most on here want and think we need. Great kicking game, calm, great organiser, solid defender, kicks goals.... Would he not be the perfect foil for an instinctive player like Milford?

Absolutely. He would be able to teach Milford a few things as well. I would like him at the Broncos

Chronic knee injury.

Can't (when fully fit) make the team that ran stone motherless last.

If he was a good player don't you think that he might have walked into that team?

We might as well get Peter Wallace back.

What?

Like how to rehab from a chronic injury?

How to not be good enough to be picked for the worst team in the comp?

There is a reason why people aren't bashing his door down with offers.

Did you burn it when Bennett bought benji Marshall as well?
What about when he bought a terribly out of form blair? Or an injury prone moga? Or a fresh out of rehab Boyd? An overweight ese ese?

It's a good signing. Bennetts and Nolan are good bargain hunters.

Hodgkinson doesn't need to set the world on fire. He just needs to do his job. It will be kicking (among the best in the nrl even now), keeping calm under pressure and organising/re-directing the attack (all strengths of his even when he's playing terrible). He's also a good defender and an experienced player who's won big matches before. And he will come cheap.

I don't get the down side to him, newcastle has been playing him injured and he played behind a terrible forward pack. Even if he just ends up as a back up half it's still a good buy...

Like how to kick a ball in any way, shape or form. Plus Hodkinson was in the team by the time their season finished. In fact he was their halfback for the last ten games of the season.

Spot on. I wouldn't mind him at all next to Milford. Like a Shane Perry or Peter Wallace to Locky.

If he's got the right attitude, with a good kicking game, I don't see why not as long as he's cheap and there are no kitchen sinks being thrown. As someone said, at the worst, he's a handy back up halve and at a pinch, we can use him if Macca goes down again, or for that Milf or Knik. So long as he understands he's playing second fiddle to milf on the field, and what that may entail.

Agreed it's more about finding the right balance with your halves then having superstars in both slots, the last premiership we won was with Shane Perry at halfback. A solid consistent playmaker halfback who complimented Lockyer perfectly handling the basic duties and allowing Lockyer to be more selective about his involvement during a match. For me Nikorima and Milford present the same issues that we had with Hunt and Milford, both ballrunners but neither compliment each other in the critical playmaking areas.

With regards to Hodkinson I wouldn't throw the book at him, but at the right price I would consider it. Then you can have Kodi off the bench in an impact/utility role.

Yeah but milf isn't even close to being a lockear type player . We still need a solid foil for milf

TBH, I think Brown knew the team was going to come last....again. He also clearly had no intention of retaining Hodkinson so decided to test his combinations for next year to get an idea of whether he could rely on them for 2018 or if he needed to chase someone else. For a year or 2 at a reasonable price, I'd definitely take him.
