And? It doesn't make him wrong. They had **** all in the bank due to decades of horrible, horrible mismanagement. They're useless *****, and the sooner fans stop making crappy excuses for this shit **** administration, the better.
Agreed!! Every time that slimeball Chairman of the ARLC speaks, I feel like giving him a 'knuckle sandwich' to shut him up. He's basically all other sports (namely Union and AFL) a chance to snare more supporters away from NRL.

Reports the NRL will look at going back to a one ref per game system to help cut costs.

Would be terrible if Ashley Klein lost his job.

This player retirement fund that they're saying is supposed to have $30 million in it, what is this retirement fund actually used for? I assume for players who are retired due to injury?

I don’t know what it was supposed to be used for but the point is moot because there is no money in it now.

It was used for all the old ex-players that work for the NRL now.

Sounds like a very specialised retirement fund.
ie if you don’t work for the nrl you are not part of it.
Anyway given the job cuts currently going on I doubt too many of them are working for the NRL now.

I'd question the need for it then in the first place, do the players not get paid superannuation just like any other employee? Why do they need a special fund....?

But it does seem like the whole game is managed pretty poorly from the top down....

They might be contractors to the league maybe. Who knows.

I thought the retirement fund was there to offer assistance to those players that retired early due to injury etc but I could be totally wrong
