I get that vibe too, but does any other club have a legitimate fullback option up for grabs?
We're the only club that could offer him a genuine shot at the 1, so maybe he'd be willing to back his talent with a 1 year deal.

probably only Allen at Souths

I have no idea if Suaali kid is all hype, but if Bennett was happy to go all out to sign him long term, I reckon he might be special. If we have a spare million burning a hole in our pockets next year, would it be worth giving him a 750k for a 1 year deal? If he's worth the hype, he sticks around, if he ***** off, we're not any worse off than we were before. I wouldn't sign him more than a year when he hasn't seen first grade yet.

All depends on our salary cap position really. You'd want to wait to see what happens with Smith/Grant first though but we desperately need a fullback.
I just watched a highlights package of him in Harold Matthews. Maybe it was a bad video or it didn't show all his talents but I'm struggling to understand this amount of hype. He looks good, a level above his opponents but 95% of his tries were barge over tries where he gets a big run up from standing deep in the offensive line and runs at smaller players. This won't happen in the NRL. It will work in union a lot more then league.

I meant it the other way around, if he wants to play fullback, the clubs that are apparently chasing him have long term fullbacks already. Same reason Ponga left, because Green wouldn't play him ahead of Coote.

I don't see it either, but I don't pay any attention to junior leagues to really understand who stands out.

They have pulled out of chasing him... he was too greedy so they said stuff it... plus latrell has the fullback spot whether he should or shouldn’t be it

The thing is that only us and the tigers have a fullback position to give... apparently the roosters are leading the race but if he genuinely wanted to play fullback and live up to the hype he has to realise that he isn’t going to be playing wing or fullback with Teddy Tupou and Morris in front of him... It’s just unnecessary really

Aren't the Tigers going all in for JAC fullback?

Roosters have recently knocked back Teddy’s offer. Maybe they’re already building for the next stage? We should offer James whatever he asked for from Roostrs.

Also on the Grant/Smith note... Cam spoke out on some platform whether it was a podcast I don’t know but he said he hasn’t felt that moment where he thinks his time is up or he doesn’t/can’t play anymore

Is White a bad golfer though?

Yeah I but they are after Sualii too... it’s one or the other they can’t snag both
I'd absolutely love Jac at fullback, but it pretty much has to be Sydney for him unfortunately.

Bulldogs apparently the favourites. possibly offering up Reimis Smith in exchange
Lol! Bulldogs will have a competitive team next year if they pick him up.

Man the Fox for Smith would be like offering up C.Smith for Turpin, absolutely rubbish deal for the Storm.

Dead no to the sualii kid for me. Yes it looks like he has some skill but as another poster has said, he is a big kid playing against kids much smaller than him with poor defence. He will not be able to play that same game against men. The comparison to ponga is different. Ponga was different as he had a handful of senior games and excelled not because of his size, but his skills, elusiveness and speed.

No way you would throw anywhere near 600-700k to a kid who has not played a game of senior football.

If we were keen, do what the roosters do, wait for another team to develop them, and then poach them. Yes it may be a couple years down the track but by that time you would get a better gauge of their skills and it would not be as big of a gamble and he would only be like 20-21 or something.
