I'm unsure, but reality is, I don't think I'd care either way. It would need to be for what he's worth, which really isn't much at the moment.

Do we really need Fifita?
The game plan Kev and Reynolds seem to be aiming for is use our strike outside backs as much as possible. We've probably got one of the most exciting backlines in the comp next year, is bringing Dave in going to suit that? Or will the ball just end with him and not get wider or is he going to be a 600-700k decoy?

Riki, TC, Piakura, Hosking can all do a job out there for a fraction of the price.
We just need a trademen like guy out there to make his tackles and run good lines.
Walsh will be sniffing around for a offload, we've seen TCs ability with that.

I went yes for the right price. Maybe it's just the memory of the times he ripped other teams apart but I think that player is still there with the right coaching and environment

This. He'd be a completely different player, IMO, in our current system. He went from the "old broncos" to the Titans where the culture doesn't seem to be much better. As has been said numerous times he's just never looked happy at the Titans. I think we'd see a very different Fifita in this current squad and culture. For the right price of course and assuming it doesn't cost us a player that is going to upset the group/team harmony.

Fifita is great in attack, but NFI in defence.
disagree on this one mate, Fifita is marginally behind Riki in tackle efficiency and the latter is seen as a rock. I know stats aren't everything and can't quantify defensive solidarity/communication, but I think there's a bit of misconception on Dave being lazy and a poor defender. He also has better tackle efficiency than Capewell but I agree you can't account for 1%'ers which Capewell is very good at.

Plus they say defense is all about attitude, must easier if you care about the jersey you are wearing, so given he’s going ok in a jersey he doesn’t care about, well it makes it interesting.

..........., but I think there's a bit of misconception on Dave being lazy and a poor defender.

I think lazy is fair to say on occasion. His head seems to go MIA for periods unknown. I just put it down to his age. You would think chatty blokes like Reyno and Patty on the field, would be in Dave’s ear all night.....there'd be no chance for Dave to switch off.

Get him happy, confident and enjoying his footy.....the guys a fucken game breaker.
He is a forward who can win you games.

You've gotta be off your head not to want him in your side.

He is also averaging much less tackles per game, given they are all playing the same position that means he isn't pushing the line in defence.

Fair comments. But some of us are still burnt - he went for the money grab when we were at our lowest. Still burns a bit. On that note, hope Coates is happy with the Storm atm. & Hass has lost the respect of us supporters too. And given the efforts lately, of players on less than half his wage, I'm quite happy to boo you at Suncorp old son.

If price was right, absolutely. I think he would give us punch in a position where we have none. Neither Capewell or Riki is a threat with ball in hand.

And I know he can be inconsistent. But the opposition would have to man up on him every time, cos they don't know if he'll go nuts or do nothing. At the moment, they just have to slide cos we have no threat there. He could be our version of Kikau.

No. Only because 700k is still too much. At this stage and on current form 350-400 is closer to the mark. If we are adding some loading for potential 500k for 3 years. But he’s not coming for that. He couldn’t be on more than Capes. 700 for an edge forward that breezes in and out of games and scores the odd try when he’s in the mood just ***** with the balance of the team.

Nope
Lazy player who is far from a complete player
Sure the highlights are good to see but his defence is awful and he is very lazy in a lot of the key areas

Fifita is a great player when in form, but I'm still a No personally. I can't see how it benefits us long term. If Riki, Piakura and Robati were moved on for whatever reason, I'd rather a mature player similarly aged to Capewell. Then bring some superstar rookies in to be mentored by Carrigan at a much later date.

We can all point to the Panthers having a group of guys around the same age come through together, but when they all retire or should injury end a career early (like it did Joey's) can the sustain their success? I'd argue we couldn't post Lockyer, Canberra didn't after Meninga retired despite Daley's best efforts and Parramatta were finished by the time Sterling retired.

I'm pretty sure I read a quote from Renouf somewhere that said something like the young guys in 92 and 93 were the experienced players in 97 and 98.

It's long term thinking though, and all that being said, if the club think otherwise and bring him back, I'm not going to question their decision.

Funny thing is they're all players that came through our system, obviously Reynolds didn't but the rest did

Take a bit further, Sam Walker
