If we play them again the first thing I’m saying to the ref if I’m Reyno is the storm players are tangling their legs around our guys every tackle to slow the play down if you don’t do something to stop them we will. It’s deadset cheating in the open. Never saw so many tackles where the opposition just happened to get their leg ‘trapped’ around our guys. It was so frustrating to watch them get away with it all night.

That and rolling on legs. Crocodile Tackles.

This is just some seriously messed up shit, my brain is having difficulty processing what to actually think of this game.

On the one hand resting the players was absolutely the right thing to do........................... but on the other.......... losing to the farken storm...........at home.................. again.................. just grinds my gears like you wouldn't believe.

I think Kev would've weighed up the pros and cons of playing our best line up and winning/losing and decided that whether we win or lose it doesn't really change anything for us in Week 1.

I wouldn't expect any coach in a professional sport to be intentionally losing to avoid an opponent.

The let downs for me, Periera and Taupau.

pereira is just too slow and seems to be unable to bust tackles like he used to

Taupau missed a lot of tackles falling over in the middle

Taupau is a great bench player, but can't play more then 20min.

Yeah, hard to say. He was playing a lot longer than normal minutes. Out of position and really only missed one vital tackle there. Just people notice these things a lot.

Smoothey was going a lot better before he got completely gassed. Should have been spelled earlier.

That said, it wasn't long after Paix come on...... we went to shit.

HATE losing to Melbourne with a passion, but thinking logically, I couldn’t be happier with this result.

Melbourne are the best team in the comp at exposing edge defence and creating opportunities out wide.

If we won and had to play them next week with all their players back they would absolutely ABUSE our right edge defence all tonight and tear us to shreds.

This is a heaps, heaps better result for us. Getting the overrated Warriors instead of our ultimate bogey team week 1 of the finals is a great result.

Also gives us a timely wake up call right before the finals which can’t hurt.

Minor premiership is totally meaningless.

We're playing the Storm next week guaranteed.

Panthers will go hard against the Cowboys since the minor premiership is back in play.

And the Warriors are resting half their side, so will get done by the Phins who will be determined to finish their season off on the right note.

It will be Broncos vs Storm at Lang Park in the 2 v 3 game

Oh I wouldn’t think they’d even considered this within the club and I’d actually be concerned if they did.

The Broncos just couldn't handle the Storm's physicality. Their players were constantly making the right choices coming off the line and the Broncos just didn't know how to counter players coming off the line. They just dominate the effort areas and that was where the Broncos were found wanting, Papenhuyzen had an age to put kicks up.

I'm not overly concerned with what the result can mean coming into the finals series, but moreso in 2024. Their players just looked far more well drilled than the Broncos and the simple areas like passing and defence was just night and day.

Brand new competition, Brisbane have put themselves in a fantastic position and that's all you can ask for at this stage. Whatever happens between now and October is all up in the air.

**** it's frustrating watching Storm's dummy halves get away with so many forward passes. Some of them were so blatant, I couldn't believe they weren't called up. Fucking stitch up.

Man I wish they blooded tekura instead of paix tonight. Paix is consistently a wet blanket in defence and our middle needed some miles in the legs tonight. Glad to see mozer debut. Bring in the finals

I think the 3 hooker setup ultimately cost us the game, we couldn't get anything through the middle with all 3 of them out there.
