100%, if ASADA is in any way legit they were knocking on his door that morning. Anyone know how long nose beers show up after the fact?

24 -48 hours . Wendell would play Friday night , then hit the town and pass a piss test on Mondays .
Union wanted him gone from his big dollar contract so sent drug testers around Saturday morning .

Valentine Holmes has declared he is innocent and it was all a joke gone wrong, telling the Cowboys he did not dabble in drugs following an NRL integrity unit investigation into North Queensland’s white-powder saga.

He reiterated his stance that the image, which also showed him holding a drink, was simply a puerile prank gone wrong.

He could easily back it up by getting tested.

The only reason Valentine had that little cocaine baggie was to fill up with sugar for a prank, obviously.

Testing positive or not won't change the punishment. It's out of competition so the Cowboys could give him a month suspension which is what Asada would give him too. Naden got a month for out of competition testing.

Munster only missed one game and a month of rehab and it's probably similar to Val- unknown substance, no failed test.

Didn't Naden test positive on the after match GF drug testing.

ASADA classed as out of comp and not performance enhancing and it's only worth a month.

Rehab will also reduce the ban.

Sounds stupid to me.

Test before kickoff in GF = in comp.

Test 30 mins after full time whistle = not in comp.

Curious there's no mention anywhere here of the "illegal" aspect. Surely if ASADA and the NRL aren't interested, the police would be?

For the record, I'm no pearl-clutcher, I'm sure its use is widespread within the game, especially since it's probably nigh on impossible for players to go out and enjoy a beer with mates at the pub these days. I just find it curious.

The NRL has issued Val Holmes with a breach notice, accusing him of “publicly associating the game with illegal drugs”.

Val Holmes has reportedly not been considered for the PM XIII team due to the investigation.

NRL statement

“The National Rugby League (NRL) today issued North Queensland Cowboys player Valentine Holmes with a Breach Notice alleging a breach of the NRL Code of Conduct following an NRL Integrity Unit investigation into a social media post published on Sunday 10 September 2023,” the NRL statement reads.

He has been given five business days to respond.

I still dont get what they can do to him apart from maybe bringing the game into disrepute unless they can prove it. Its like the Munster incident. We all know what it is, but if you cant prove it where does that leave the NRL.
