Weren't the Roosters forced to pay Matt Lodge $20,000 a game due to the NRL forcing a notional value on him?

That's about $500,000 for a full season, which would have been in the ball-park of the $700,000, at least from March --> October.

I'd imagine Pangai Jr will be valued at around the same price.

Most likely, let the guy stay with Magpies they have most of our good talent not in our main squad anyway it might be a positive for that overall, if he can teach Te kura some good offloads it might be a positive.

Might.

I completely forgot about that.

I believe there was also a major delay surrounding Matt Lodge's deal at the Roosters as they awaited for approval.

Did we ever get any details over his contract and Angus Crichton?

It's a good piece of business for Souths. They get a world class player with a new lease on life who can cover any role in the pack. They haven't handed him the keys to the castle and if it doesn't work out both parties are free to walk away.

I'm hoping for a happy resolution and that Pangai absolutely kills it in Cup. If nothing else, it'll make for some exciting footy and get more people engaged with local footy.

I seriously wonder what was running through his head in 2019-20. Was he just upset with what happened to Wayne? Did he not get on with Seibs? I think he's being honest when he says he didn't want to leave in 2021, he seemed pretty gutted when they interviewed after that Souths game and it was kind of cruel to put him on the spot like that.

It's hard to workout anything with Tevita, he has always played games with the media with everything he has ever said, but going by his career moves I would say he might be consistent with his views as being someone who wanted to always be a Bronco, given he was forced out of the club then turned down a massive contract only to put himself in a position that if he got back into a first grade side it will be with us even if it's **** all money.

The boxing career has clearly proven to be nonsense when he made the decision to join Logan so maybe it was his tactic to get back to the side he wanted to play for money be damned, who knows.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility, like as a fan perspective if you where driven out of the club you always wanted to play for, your already sorted financially in your career and will take risks to get back to that club.

It's huge win for Logan though, they have the best Off loader in Rugby league objectively, he might create a bit of chaos on that but he is very consistent when it comes to getting the ball out from a tackle that the game hasn't really seen at that level ever.

If he does have a w lease on life and shows it over the first few weeks, we’d be crazy not to sign him if we are allowed to for a small wage. A dedicated TPJ off the bench is exactly what we need and could be a serious difference maker.

Until now though, he hasn’t shown dedication to anything for long. Why would he start now? What happens at the first sign of difficulty?

I've changed my tune admittedly.

I am for him getting another chance, he's going to have to earn it and he's prepared to do that. If nothing else he's shown a desire to be a Bronco, even when we ousted him I don't recall him being overly disrespectful about it. He may have said a word or two about it in the media but it came across as purely a matter of fact.

You do get the sense he never wanted to go, you also get the sense that it wasn't just because of Wayne, or he would've joined Dolphins when it was reported they were looking at him. He's making his intentions clear here, it's not about Wayne, it's about wanting to be a Bronco. As a fan, I have to respect that.

Te Kura can already offload .
He just doesn`t do it when rucking out of his own end . Or run sideways in the 20 when straight hard running is what`s required .
I saw him offload in the trial against Wynnum last year . He was holding the ball in one hand when getting tackled looking for runners last week as well .

IMO every single player in the comp can learn from TPJ when it comes to offloads, Te kura might be good at it but he isn't at TPJ level because no one in the game is, sure alot of his offloads don't work because his decision making hasn't been the best but no one in the game that I have seen has the ability to get their arm free for it to happen like he has at the same rate at any level.

Mate if he was that good he would still be at the Raiders / Broncos / Bulldogs .
But he`s not ...

He's already training with Souths, so he's showing some level of commitment.

To the game he doesn`t like and only played because his parents made him do it ?

He should talk less and let his doings do the talkings .

Fck man if I was built like him I think rugba league would be fun . But it`s what`s between his ears rather than his physique that holds him back .
