Round 2 Injury Updates
Payne Haas (Knee) - Round 7-9
Greg Marzhew (Wrist) - Round 7-9
Su'a Fa'alogo (Ankle) - Round 5
Christian Welch (Concussion) - Round 5
Jacob Liddle (Concussion) - Round 4

So Liddle passed his HIA, but has since been ruled out.

I was shocked Liddle didn't come from the field earlier in the game. If you go back roughly 9 minutes into the game, Farnworth runs over the top of Liddle and Jacob appeared in all sorts. He stayed on the field, then roughly 45 minutes in, he tries to tackle Nicholls square and was laid out once again. Moments later, JMK isolates him with Nicholls 1-1, Mark scores and it's only then he comes from the field.

What are they doing at St George Illawarra?

Where is the Haas estimate coming from? I've been smashed today, out of the news cycle.

I see it is up on the Broncs website too:

Qscan Injury Update: Payne Haas

Authorbroncos.com.auTimestampWed 20 Mar 2024, 06:57 PM

Broncos prop Payne Haas will undergo knee surgery next week.
Broncos Head Of Performance Dave Ballard said: “Payne met with a specialist today and it was decided the best course of action was for him to have an arthroscopy next week.
"We always put the long-term health of the player first and even though Payne will miss some games now, we will get a much better result once he returns with the bulk of the season still to play.

"This kind of surgery has a recovery of up to six weeks, but we know that Payne is always very dedicated to his rehab and we expect no different this time around."

NRL.com was where I specifically got the 4-6 range FWIW.

Definitely a blow, but look at it this way, it forces the other forwards to step up. I thought Haas being out in the past proved a blessing because the likes of Jensen, Palasia, Hetherington etc. really stepped up in his stead and were better for it.

I'll be keeping a very close eye on Baker and Willison. This is the type of game they need to make a mark.

If there's one positive with the Haas injury it's that with the way he handles his rehab, he should be back within the 4 week mark. I don't see him being out for any longer than 4 weeks.

Qscan Injury Update: Reece Walsh

Authorbroncos.com.auTimestampFri 22 Mar 2024, 09:29 AM

The Broncos can provide an update on Reece Walsh’s face injury from last night game against the Panthers.
Broncos Head Of Performance Dave Ballard said: "Reece was taken to hospital last night after we arrived back at the team hotel and underwent a CT scan which showed a facial fracture.

“As a result, he cannot fly home and is being driven back up to Brisbane today by our staff.

“We will be able to determine how much footy Reece will miss once the injury settles down and after we consult a specialist in coming days.

“Reece’s wellbeing is our priority and ensuring he is well looked after. We will get him safely back to Brisbane and then move forward.”

This has me wondering...I would imagine unlikely but...given the amount of blood...compound fracture?

Welp, if we're going to make the GF again this year, we're going to do it the hard way. 3 key players on the sidelines for an extended period isn't the best early season luck.

Good opportunity for the other players to step up. We still have enough talent left in the side to win games.

We do, but when our attack is essentially all based off either Reyno or Walsh, well, that makes it hard.

We also miss Haas' minutes in a huge way.

I agree though, we still have a whole lot of quality and quite a bit of strike.

Yeah you are right, it is a massive handicap but you know what I reckon this gives us a chance to see is:
- Mam taking on more ownership
- More variety from our attack - sometimes Madden can play make, sometimes Mam, sometimes Sailor and sometimes Cobbo

This has the potentially to make us even more unpredictable when the cavalry returns

I think I read somewhere that Tino has done his ACL. Poor bugger
