It was pretty good listening to Cameron Smith suffer through that match in the commentary box, highly recommend watching the Channel 9 replay.

"Was that a shoulder charge?" he asked after Arthars folded Meaney in two, desperate for any kind of call.

Yeah I caught that, and the replay shows him clearly whapping his arms around in a hug.

On the replay I really bumped again on the fact that when Xavier was injured it was only the Broncos boys got around him no Storm players. I noticed Staggs and Walshy making sure he was ok at the game, but upon replay realising none of his own Storm players checking on him.
Slightly on topic but I noticed that when Coates got injured, Staggs had tackled him how Coates tackled Cobbo in-goal during the 1st half (before the glorious drop out kick by Reynolds).

I thought the tackle on Cobbo, while legal, was highly dangerous as you’re only grabbing one leg and potentially twisting. To me it was kind of poetic justice that same tackle by Staggs is the one that concludes his 2023.

So much for winning GFs at the Storm, right Coates??😂😂

I reckon the Storm last night were so focused on having a game plan to stop Walsh ( and he wasnt as involved or effective as usual ) they forgot we arent a one man team.

That game last night was won on physicality more than our skillset. That first half was as physical as anything i have seen in recent years at NRL level. I've never seen Payno gassed after 30 mins, but him and Carrigan both were. Tbf, the Storm matched it with us physically in that first half, but early in the second you could see their intensity levels dropped.

I knew we were winning that game anyway. I dont think i have ever mentioned it, but i said we were winning it by 26.
Exactly. They seemed to think Walsh was our only weapon. The herbie and stags put on some footwork and they soon figured out we have strike all over the park

😂 I thought the exact same thing when I watched it. Love the Fat, but that’s just jibber….
On Fox, Parker (shit that salty bitch is unbearable) said that walsh initiated contact and got the penalty.

On the herbie and staggs swap, I think kevie may have initially swapped them because by kicking to cobbo, storm were reducing herbies involvement in that first and second tackle hit up. Swapping them put herbie in the right position to complete those early hit ups and metres from cobbofielding the kicks.

At this stage Mam can't use his edge; his passing game just isn't developed enough. It's not effective playing with one edge and the right gets so much more than the left. They have been doing it a bit with Herbie roving around like Turbo did in Origin.

It's just used so both players strengths are utilised and help Mam out a bit.

Jesus. Talk about grasping at straws. At first glance it looked suspect. No issue asking a basic question. Cam Smith shows no allegiance to any team. If you listen to him on the Captain's run with Kempie he's been pretty critical of the Storm this year.

The threats that I thought would occur just didn't. Storm didn't get a chance to do anything and some of their sets were the worst I can remember.

The dummy half runs from backs always tell a story about how well the other team has attacked and kicked- Broncos four dummy half runs from backs. That's just Walsh and Cobbo.

The Broncos weren't polished, but it was just a final win. I thought it was a scrappy game and even at 8-0- both teams weren't really playing finals football- must have been five passes either dropped or forward from a first receiver.

Whichever team settled down and won a 20-minute period was going to win the game and it was that period from 50-70 that won the game for Brisbane.

Bench was great and kept the momentum going. I thought that was telling in the game.

The highlight for me was the scramble even at 26-0 they got back and covered anything with two minutes to go- they wanted the 0. Would have been easy to go 26-4 who cares- but they showed great pride in their line.
