They could only pick one side to be called Redcliffe Dolphins- same would be told to the Gold Coast Titans. QRL won't let two sides be called Gold Coast Titans.

It's really not hard to understand.

So what do Redcliffe call their colts and lower decisions.

My guess Redcliffe Dolphins.

Now granted maths isn't my strong suit ... but I'm still pretty sure that means that there is more than one team called the Redcliffe Dolphins

Sure but both of them suck. You'd just call them the Titans wouldn't you?

Do the opposite to Redcliffe.

Well yeah and this is what should happen with Redcliffe too. I get the history and all that but to be frank, now The is in the NRL, who cares about Q Cup? The NRL is the big league not the QRL, they should change.

They're all one club playing in the QRL competition.

They're all one club playing in the QRL competition.

So now we get to the bottom of it. The QRL don't have an issue with clubs having multiple grades ... their only problem is if one of those grades happens to be higher than QLD Cup level ... got it.

By the way the Dolphins NRL team is part of the same club as all of those other grades.

A big part of their bid to gain entry to the NRL was the Redcliffe club with $100 million in assets and cash. So unless their bid to the NRL was fraudulent, they can't claim to be a separate entity.

You can have a team higher than the QRL and Redcliffe do it's called the Dolphins and plays in the NRL, but it needs to have a different name.

Aspley Broncos weren't allowed to be called Brisbane Broncos either.

I think you know exactly what he's talking about, so don't pretend. The same people that were butthurt when the Broncos entered the NSWRL are still butthurt. If they had their way, the NSW comp would have stayed below the Tweed and the QRL would still be considered "first grade".

Having a "Redcliffe Dolphins" in the NRL would be an admission that there is indeed a higher grade, and they just can't bring themselves to do it. So instead they pretend that the NRL is still just an expanded NSWRL competition that exists in a separate reality.

That's all just made up; In fact, the only place I hear that crap is on here with people calling it the NSWRL and blah blah rubbish about how the NSWRL control the game.

Obviously, you haven't spoken to anyone from the QRL- they love the Dolphins and the fact a team from their competition is top of the table. It only reflects well on them not poorly.

QRL want their players going up to the NRL why would they want differently from their clubs?

They just think it's best to have a clear line dividing the two teams in the Dolphins set up.

NSWRL disagree and they're free to do that. They have embraced the nuclear model and good on them.

The people most upset about the name are the people that couldn't care less- up to three weeks ago they didn't even know their was a Redclfife Dolphins. Now they're dying to see their rightful and historical name restored!

I think even though in Redcliffes case it's literally the same team, the NSW cup model of allowing NRL branded teams in that competition is bad for the game.

Your replacing Historic clubs with a team that already exists in the top tier.

An example would be my Local club Windsor Wolves, the club predates Rugby league in this country being founded as a union club in 1891 before changing over to league in 1912, before Panthers made their NSW cup team in house Wolves were the Panthers feeder team, once that happened they dropped to tier 3 then tier 4 and now I can't even find what competition they play in, bit of a shame, since when they were in NSWCup they got a government grant to build a new grandstand only for the team to be dropped out of relevency.

It's better for the ecosystem of the game to have these clubs in the second tier, rather then just a reserve team wearing an NRL jersey.

But again we ask, why???

Surely the best way to celebrate the history of the club is to have as few divisions as possible between their roots and the NRL side. The whole point of their bid, and a major part in them being an attractive club for players, was supposedly because kids could play for them, wear the jersey, and dream of pulling on that jersey in the top grade.

So why the **** are they putting the massive * after that concept?

"Kids, do you want to play for an NRL team, well you can! Join the Dolphins now!!!*" * "the Dolphins" being the Redcliffe Dolphins, which must not be confused with the NRL side which is "The Dolphins" and definitely not a Redcliffe team despite their home ground being located there.

Well, yeah. This is it for me tbh. Although given one of my Uncles played for the Dolphins back in the day, I've known about them for a little more than 3 weeks so that's a bit of a shit take IMO. The rusted on fans are just happy to have their team in the top grade would be my guess, for the rest of us I think...certainly me, it just doesn't sit right.

That's the part I don't understand- If Mark Murray isn't upset if John Ribot is going to games and handing out jumpers to Dolphins players then why does it bother anyone else.

If those guys are offended, then I would listen, but it seems to be only upsetting people who start rants with I hate the QRL and have never watched a game under their control but here is what I think...

Sorry you've lost me stick with your original thought of not caring.

Darryl Van de Velde is on the QRL board, he coached Dolphins in the 1980's and played for them- do you think he's sitting there saying really want this to fail? Let's stuff them up.

Cooper Cronk- does he seem like a bitter old man to you that wants Redcliffe to fail?

I've got no idea what you're talking about here tbh. Who's talking about anyone wanting them to fail? I simply said that I, like many others it seems, just think it's shit that they aren't known as the Redcliffe Dolphins...end of my point really.

Along with your other poor arguments.....

I wouldn't be using Mark Murray or John Ribot as examples of being Redcliffe stalwarts
