Piss him off. Don’t want him near the team

He'll be back in Union before the end of the year.

Brisbane Broncos player Izaia Perese has been stood down from all duties with the club after being charged by police with drug offences.

Brisbane Broncos CEO Paul White said Perese had been stood down with immediate effect, and will not be required to train or play with the team.

White said the Broncos had made the NRL Integrity Unit aware of the issue, and will work closely with them moving forward.

“Standing down Izaia is not a judgement of his guilt or innocence, but recognition that this is a serious matter,” said White.

“We have discussed our course of action and the reasoning behind it with Izaia, and he understands the action we have taken.

“We will review the matter as it moves through the legal process.”

The club will be making no further comment on the matter at the present time.

Dumb. Hopefully it's only a very minor drug charge, but he should know better regardless. Hope we don't have to let him go, I was excited to see him get a run at some point in the season.

Not asking this to be harsh toward Perese but in a case like this if a player is guilty and the club lets them go, how does that effect the salary cap? Is it exempt?

Any reports of how much the he’s earning ?

Hoping for the best for the young fella but at the same time I don’t think he’s a massive loss, heaps of natural ability but lacking nuance by most accounts.

probably not a great deal in his case ... can't imagine him being on much more than minimum wage.

in general (and this is a guess) we'd have to carry what we have already paid him for the season on the cap ... the rest would be cap exempt
