POST GAME PSC - Broncos vs Cowboys

Why shouldn't it be defended? I'm not a fan of his, in fact, I think he's an 18-21 player in most squads, but I guarantee most of the Walters bathers can't name a game where he played terrible. He's solid, that's it, no more, no less. Not the answer, just a stop gap. But people act like kev Walters would pick him over c Smith bcos he is getting picked at the moment. We have limited options, he's a stop gap, he's doing it well in my eyes.
Because you're having a cry over someone thinking a specialist hooker passes better than him. How is that "agenda driven shit"? Get a grip smh

very happy to get that win ... especially given we were repeatedly raped by the ref all night long.

now on to the positives:

Mozer looks like a star of the future. I'd still be giving him some more time in the oven, playing in the QLD Cup.

Paix looks like he has returned to form. IMO he is currently our best hooker, but I'd still be tempted to start Billy for the first 20 minutes. that'll take a bit of the sting out of the defence and aid Paix's best asset (his darts out of dummy half).

Cobbo may make a great fullback one day, but that day isn't now. his hands and defensive positioning need plenty of work. although he is a bloody good runner of the footy. Centre or wing is his position for the foreseeable future.

Our halves depth is very good, with Madden and Rogers doing some good things tonight. they have some very good mentors around them that will set them up to succeed Reynolds.

defensively we should some good resolve tonight, there were several occasions when we didn't have the ball for 5 - 10 mins (thanks for that you **** of a ref), and we kept showing up. even if we did eventually break.

our backline depth is incredible. Staggs is going to need to step it up if he wants to hold these guys out. Staggs can be one of the most dangerous backs in the league ... but right now he is also the vulnerable one.

Marty Taupau will prove to be a smart signing, he has been impressive for us in his two trials. very handy player to have on the bench.

and finally, I'll save the best for last ... PATTY CARRIGAN ... words can't describe how good this guy is. best forward in the game.

add Arey, Walsh and a fairly refed game and we would have put the Cows to the sword tonight. but we still did exceptionally well to pull off a win

EVERY game I've watched with dearden you seriously wouldn't know he was on the field for about 65 minutes at least. Good short ball, good defence for a half, but overall if he wasn't an ex bronco you would not hear one thing about him in the media, and deservedly so...prove me wrong...

He's more a 5/8 than a halfback and with that in mind, we made the right call.

I thought he was shit when he first got up here but he was excellent last year.

Feel like people are being a bit harsh on Staggs. Can't recall him doing anything much wrong in defense, and I thought he went looking for the ball a bit more than he has previously, which is a good sign. Might need to pick his moments better, but he's got the skill to make something happen out of our own end when he does that.

Happy to let staggs go, he’s on way too much and can’t read the attacking line in defence for shit.

mariner got that little something.
It's gonna be interesting to see how this unfolds. Staggs is a real liability on defence but we know how devastating he is at his best, but we don't get to see it consistently. Hopefully he's fully healed and has a big year for us.
Mariner may be a little undersized but does well in contact. We might need to give him some games at some point for the release requests start up again, but yeah just hard to find a spot for him outside of Origin time.

He's played over 50 nrl games. If he is in the qld side over mam in 2-3 years it is purely over loyalty/plays for the Cowboys vs broncos...

They need to keep his confidence up. It affects his game more than alot of other players.

Also Haas now has an offload. Finally.

I couldn’t get all the fuss around Mozer as I haven’t seen him play until now. It may just be 15min that Mozer was on field but boy, I couldn’t take the smile off me every time he touched the footy. He looked “natural” & we should lock him down for life. He’s the future.

All in all, it’s a better performance from last week but giving away cheap meters to opposing teams should be stopped & I reckon as the season progresses, it will be controlled.

If not for injuries, I don’t see a place for Palasia in 17. We can ship him off to Titans now. No good to us.

Wonder what’s with Willison though. He just needs some luck.

Piakura - you need to keep your legs to yourself & not throw them around mate. You contributed to a Cowgirls try & a 7 tackle set to them(though it was a smart play, we would’ve got lucky had the kick had bit less force).

Herbie is a different person to last year. In addition to footy, he started interacting during game, smiling often & becoming “friends”. Love it!

Riki & Staggs - more than footy, it’s imperative that that some ‘sense’ is drilled into you guys & hope that is addressed like yesterday.

Lastly, most of the Cowgirls look like great punching bags. Hate those fuckers. Always want to hurt physically.

I kinda agree with you. Not sure of the stats but it felt like he was more involved - especially coming out of our own end. And his involvement at times has been my biggest gripe bout him. Plus he’s coming back from shoulder surgery.
Thought he could’ve done better for the Holmes try but he wasn’t horrible.

He got picked for QLD for no other reason than the Cows were having a great year, NSW also pick their team in a similar way.

Probably because we know what he is capable of and being one of our star players we expect performances. Not comparing him as a player or his salary, but Its why we were all so pissed at Milf. Being the best player in your position at the club and on big money does come with certain expectations.

Patty....... awesome as usual. Liked what I seen from Josh Rodgers and Blake Mozer
