This is the same terminology that the Tigers used to get rid of Sheens :takdir:

The restructuring at Brisbane Broncos looks set to claim biggest scalp in club legend Andrew Gee | News.com.au

THE restructuring of the Broncos may be about to claim its most significant scalp with operations chief Andrew Gee tipped to leave the club.

Speculation over Gee’s future intensified on Thursday night after he was mysteriously absent from Broncos headquarters in the lead-up to the derby against the Titans.

Broncos greats were aware of whispers the club planned to part ways with Gee, but CEO Paul White declared the former Origin prop had not been sacked.

White confirmed Gee has taken personal leave, but The Courier-Mail understands the Broncos legend’s surprise absence is the prelude to a permanent departure.

Broncos staffers have been notified of Gee’s mid-season sabbatical, which has raised eyebrows given his importance to Brisbane’s front-office as the Origin campaign looms.

Gee is one of the Broncos’ most powerful figures, with the club’s latest annual report showing he earned $227,286 last year.

He is a key lieutenant to under fire coach Anthony Griffin, having assisted in recruitment and retention since his return to the club in 2010.

Gee did not return calls but it is understood he met with White on Thursday, who insists Brisbane’s administrative status quo remains.

“The only statement I wish to make is that Andrew has taken some personal leave,” he said.

“He is still employed with the club.”

Asked if Gee would be with the Broncos next year, White declined to comment.

A well-placed source said last night: “It’s unusual for a guy in Andrew Gee’s position to take annual leave ... we’re midway through the season.”

The winds of change have swept through the Broncos since the worst campaign in the club’s 25-year history last season.

At least one board member is concerned about the club’s direction under Griffin, prompting the club to make a number of significant off-field appointments.

Last month, the Broncos recalled recruitment chief Peter Nolan, who was sacked by Gee in October 2010 following a post-season review of operations.

Since his return, Nolan has taken over recruitment activities from Gee, who has had interest from the corporate sector.

The club also added high-performance chiefs Alex Corvo and Steve Hooper, while former skipper Darren Lockyer was installed on the Broncos board.

But the possible loss of Gee, a 255-game Broncos legend, would signal a seismic overhaul that may extend to head coach Griffin.

Hopefully once Gee is gone there will be one less Hook supporter in our admin. I can't even imagine how refreshing it will be to be rid of both of them next season, if that is indeed the case.

Mmmm.....Well, it's pretty obvious there's a lot going on behind the scenes and equally glaring is the widespread dissatisfaction of the fans. The powers that be must be well aware of that and sooner or later the coach will get the chop. The only way Griffin can stop that is a huge turnaround and a GF appearance. I doubt it will get that far or that he will see the season out, the first 5 matches merely pushed back his departure. He's had the chance and hasn't done enough with it. He certainly has had more of a chance than he gave Martin Kennedy. I think Kennedy had enough opportunity, Griffin has had far too much.

Serious movements going on here. Perhaps White is picking up the broom and getting to work before he himself becomes apart of the junk that's being swept away. Griffin will be lucky to see out the season, I would've thought.

As for Gee, the man has obviously contributed a lot to our club throughout his life, and we should remain forever grateful for that. However, as a recruiter, he was utterly hopeless, and I am honestly very relieved to see the back of him.

It's obvious the club needs a new direction. The post Lockyer era so far has been as abysmal as all feared it would be, but perhaps the man himself will once again be the one to lead us to the promised land. When it comes to having a figurehead who inspires awe and respect and has that pull with superstar players that the club used to have during its fairytale years, I can't think of a better man for that role than Darren Lockyer. We've already seen it in action with Milford.

The post Wayne Bennett era has been abysmal, another step downwards after Lockyers retirement . Getting some fresh blood in is great and the return of Peter Nolan looks like a smart move.

All this talk of management reshuffling must be offputting to the players too.

It just shows that sentiment and 'jobs for the boys' just doesn't cut it in this professional era. Canberra have suffered from it and we are too. Restructuring can't come quick enough!

not a concern imo because we're not going anywhere this season and with this current setup anyway ... as the saying goes, sometimes you have to go back to go forwards.

I wonder if the timing of this coming out so soon after Milford guaranteed to honour his contract is a coincidence?

Maybe this talk that Darren Lockyer was the one who got the deal across the line made White and pals wonder what they were actually getting for their $227k p/a on Gee...

Lockyer, baby. He's the orchestrator. I wouldn't be surprised to see a BIG name coach signing for next season.

But Paul White two and a half weeks ago told us all everything is perfect in the Brisbane Broncos organisation and everything is under control...

Sure we've had another two losses since then, Hannant dropped, Kennedy promoted, Kennedy dropped, Hannant promoted, Gee sacked and Nolan promoted...

Now we've signed a NSW Cup 5/8 effective immediately when Hook has been telling us all year 5/8 is well covered from within existing playing ranks (despite signing Milford) and we're running 10th or 11th on the ladder and his 'success' rate is only a fraction higher than Sticky's with a far better squad...

This is is the definition of everything being perfect?

How professional would it be for White to say the club is a shambles?

Jason, I'd rather not know until something's actually happening. Until then, I want White to come out and spin, BS, lie, whatever you want to call it.

As much as I'm curious to know (like we all are), I don't want the inner workings of the board to be played out in the media, because that's a sure way to wreck the club and the team.

Professional companies present a united front until there's no way to avoid breaking the news. Then they close ranks again, and go on with the new united front.

I just don't understand why people can't understand this pretty basic concept.

No professional organisation and certainly no decent CEO is going to say anything different than what Paul white has.

He is never going to come out and say "yeah mate we are a mess, I'm currently working out the best way to sack gee and griffin, but don't tell them yet, let's just keep this between us"

Goodness me some people leave in a dreamworld

The Broncos don't make knee-jerk decisions. It might seem rushed from the outside, but wheels are turning even now that we won't see the results of for months, maybe years. Even if they'd decided that Gee had to go, they don't just bump him and hope for the best. It's obvious that they recruited Nolan to take over Gee's role, and had to make sure it would work before cutting Gee loose. As it is, he's technically not gone yet, he might be moved in to a role similar to Langer's, where he still can work with and for the club.

This is exactly why I was dubious when people kept saying "we need the legends from the glory days working for the club, bringing it back to what it used to be". Just because they were here in the playing days doesn't mean they have any clue how to best exercise their influence in a post-football role. Gee might well be better rubbing shoulders with the big end of town, securing sponsorship deals and winning club partners over a scotch.

If Lockyer does become more hands on, obviously both parties (him & the club) will ease him in to it, making sure where he ends up is the right fit. For the moment, let him still have some form of life outside of the Broncos and Rugby League so it doesn't suffocate his passion. Mentoring sounds like a good start.
