I Hope Ezra Knows That us The fans has his back. I get triggered by people saying toughen up because my narcissistic cousin used to say this to me and he used to rub it in my face that I supported the broncos and that shouldn't support them and I shouldn't go to any games mind you he is 19 years older than me

I don't need this topic whitesplained to me like it's something profound.

The point is he was trying to rattle Ezra with what is really a thoroughly meaningless insult. I'm thoroughly versed with why it's taboo, and am completely over it being used as a political gotcha. Ezra is a multimillionaire, a superstar. The insult doesn't land, despite everyone wanting it to.

I am trying to move beyond what everyone understands, beyond yet another piling on of outrage and look to the future where all insults will be on par with this.

For example, in five years the following insults will be taboo:

"Why can't you see this: are you BLIND?" - vision impairment.
"Did you not hear me: are you deaf? - hearing impairment.
"Are you dumb?" - learning/speech disability.

Following that, you will no longer be able to insult professions such as journalism, law or refereeing openly. I am not even joking or hyperbolizing. This will happen.

There is a clear difference from hyperbolizing.

Your "astute" comprehension of English language would clearly tell you that words can have different meaning with tone, attitude and aggression. Unless you were standing next to Ezra, how can you challenge his and others interpretation? Did you hear the words that were said and how they were expressed? - No.

Didn't know we were planning on identifying certain professions as sub-human, take away their rights to vote or become a citizen, and just generally treat them like shit.

The insult at Mam isn't meaningless. Again History and context.

I thought you were smarter than this.

There's no way old mate gets out of this without a significant spell.

If there is clear audio of what he said and it turns out that he said what Ezra is saying that he said, they've got to make an example out of him.

Not only for the NRL but also the place that it happened, America has been divided at times due to racism, completely divided. If this were an NFL game and he said that to an African-American, it would be on for young and old and I suspect it still will be, particularly if it's all true. Already seen players from other clubs getting behind Ezra, in a sport based on tribalism, this is all very telling.

Roosters are probably having second thoughts about the individual they signed, not so much about his ability as a footballer but definitely about his qualities as a person in society.

I mean, they didn’t care about Tedesco but then I guess his remarks weren’t to a player or a community with significant representation in the playing community, so they just swept it under the rug.

I reckon just for the PR of it all.

Racism is a huge deal in America. They'll be keen to see how it plays out, I got no doubt.

So there are levels of racism?

Having already outed myself as a white person….

The roosters **** is also a ‘person of colour’… monkey is about as tame of a racial slur as possible…
Monkey or Ape isn't a racist slur to Samoans. Samoans are Polynesian people so they don't have African ancestry.
Africans and Aborigines were classed as closer to Monkeys by Europeans in the 1700s.
That's why it's racist to one and not the other.

So a sleuth over on reddit believes it may have happened here.

You can hear something as Ezra is chasing through, but the players don't seem to react to anything until after they get in formation. So something may have only been said during the switch of play.

Just rewatching the part where the incident happened.

Channel 9 commentators said Mam & Leniu where pushing each other.

When Mam made the complaint, you couldn't hear what was said because the commentator kept waffling on & on. They first thought Mam was on report.

6 mins later still nothing & I turned it off.
You turned the game off, in Week 1 of the Season? Oh dear. I hope you meant turned the replay off?? :D

Can they give Leniu a 12 week ban, however is allowed to play at Suncorp rnd 9?
Would pay to go to the game to watch Terminator lock onto his target…seek and destroy.

Tallis threw punches at Terry O'Connor for calling him a convict he was sticking up for his white team mates. Convict could be offensive to white Australians but not to white Americans

I thought it happened around the 68th min mark.

Think a bit of push & shove happened after.
