He needed to stay on 360 is what happened. He was an on/off call in. He had to move into sensationalism and go with th hand palming that occurs. All these journalists are part of the unofficial network. The conduits for messages to get to players, for unofficial offers, for giving light to stories abd for covering up stories. It's a racket, and like all unethical practices it takes a toll on the individual. Eventually your professional boundaries are bent, then they cease to even exist.

If you did something like this at work, you'd be sacked. They give fans lifetime bans for similar things. I expect the punishment to be significant.

It has to be. If fans get life bans a player should get at very least a half season sitting on the pine. As you can argue in the heat of battle the brain is not processing what is coming out of your mouth.

I am no woke snowflake but this is one thing where being a role model is an actual thing. On the field or off it. Racism against anyone is something that can't be tolerated. Roosters counsel Lachlan Gyles has called on Spencer Leniu, who was first questioned about his upbringing and his career.

He is giving his recount of the incident and admitted to saying ‘f**k up monkey.’

He tells the panel he is ‘so sorry that I used that word.’ He added that in the spee of the game he said it but didn’t know the impact it would have on an Aboriginal player.

He referenced his post-game interview where he called the incident ‘banter’ and ‘all fun and games’ and said he genuinely thought it was banter from ‘one brown man to another.’

Leniu ‘100 per cent’ takes responsibility and will ‘never’ use the word again.

Using the I didn't know that would be offensive defence. Is he for real?
