Man Paynes second stint was quality.

He was immense, but i think also that was kind of our problem tonight. We didnt have enough players who played anywhere near their best all game. They either played well second half, or played well first half. I still think only Rogers, Mam and Smoothy were consistently solid all game.

That try for Mam after our 3 big boys carved them open finished them off i think and broke them mentally.

Thought Staggs lifting tackle was a little harsh but so be it. Thought our failed captains challenge should’ve been awarded.
I've also never seen so many "line ball" passes let go. Nothing blatant but the amount of passes I seen that weren't called that no one would have argued if they were was astonishing. Reed mahoney-like

I thought that was a great win, gritty as hell performance in the rain. Obviously our game plan was a lot more conservative this game than any other this season, and I thought that we executed it really well. Hardly any errors in the second half is incredibly impressive considering how much of a bashing we copped in the first half. Never really looked in trouble.

He needs to mix it up. Use the after burners to draw a defender and try a hard step back in field etc. Make them two man him. That's when a hole will open up and if he can deliver good ball, it's on. Sadly - his ability to execute hasn't caught up with his feet yet.
That pass he does inside to Staggs (when the defense tries to cover Walsh) has works well a few times. He should do more of that.

Not sure if anyone is watching fox sports, Parker said they do have an extra spot left in their squad, they did keep it for Tevita but no longer want him and are keeping it for someone else… but wouldn’t say who, that’s going to be interesting.

After the last few weeks that was the type of win we needed. It didn't come easy, the majority of the game we had good completion and got to our kicks. Against the run of play we forced errors and capitalized.

A few guys obviously need a rest. Smoothy was good and it may show that running two hookers isn't actually a requirement. But would like to see Mozer get a run next week, Walters needs a rest.

Carrigan may also need a rest. He has had to carry the forward pack without Payne for the whole front of the season. Hopefully we can give him a day off from training as I doubt he would want to miss a game.

We have enough spark around this squad to remain competitive and win games. We just have to increase our completion rate consistently.

Happy with the win.

He compresses them too much on those plays - lucky Katoni has half a brain at times and cuts back in field because he sees Reece just going like a bat out of hell straight at the sideline. That's what's missing, creating doubt in the defenders. If Katoni steps back inside, now you've got to make a serious defensive decision - do you slide with Reece or change onto Katoni. Now you have a play.
