Except for the chase on the intercept, Boyd looked great. Had 137 metres and 7 tackle breaks

Nah he wasn't back there to stop the Jennings try so he sucked.

wonder what the chances are of bird playing again for us this year.

you would have to assume he surely would but we have alot of our players coming back from injury now/soon and the the young kids that have filled in have been rather impressive what position, so were do we play him?

i really think he needs to go play intrust but i dont think his ego would let him without him chucking a tantrum and running home.

Channel 9 gave Lodge MOTM...

That's awesome! I said the same thing at half-time in the livegame thread. Can't wait for the meltdowns demanding he forward it straight to his beneficiaries in NY.

I know exactly what to do with him.

Yep, certainly his best effort this season. I'd warrant he's still physically hampered but he put his back into it tonight. Hopefully he can sustain that from now on....

and BTW ... if the ball is thrown backwards, the laws of physics (which i'm confident Corey Norman is not able to defy) say it is not possible for the ball to float forward

That’s not correct btw.

Gillette has fucking sucked all year too because he was playing injured, nobody calls for him to go to intrust. I don't see what the difference is. Bird needs to be given a proper chance at %100.

“Out of shape” I worded that wrong to a sense. Maybe I rate him too high, but I feel if he had the same drive as TPJ he could add a bit of explosiveness to his game and take it to another level which I believe he has..

That's not true, because of the forwards velocity of the passer (and thus the ball when it leaves their hands). If the player is running 20 km / hr straight forwards and throws a completely flat pass, the ball is going to float forwards. Basically, as long as the backward velocity of the ball, relative to the passer, is less than 20km / hr, then it's going to float forwards.

not according to a scientist i know ...

what there should be no doubt about is the NRL have fucked the forward pass rule ... with all this direction it leaves the hands bullshit... I don't defend refs often, but in these cases they are on a hiding to nothing given they have to make a split second decision on which way the hands are facing ...

what they need to do is go back to basics with the rule ... if the pass goes forward, then it is a forward pass (regardless of the direction of the hands) ... then forward pass calls won't be so random and unpredicible

I think I understand where you’re coming from. He does appear to make a lot of “tired” efforts in defence but he just keeps turning up and making those efforts
