Yeah I don't think you can be hard on smoothy on debut for a match like this to come into and besides outside of that poor choice of a grubber can't say he did anything wrong anyway.

The poor guy was probably hoping to come on up 24-6. I think he has better balance than Paixy which contributes to that ruck speed, keen to see how he goes.

for most of it, but they don't have the precision finishers we have to ice it out, we are a top team for a reason, backing up off a tough win against a team that was fully up for it we have to accept how good that was.

Definitely stoked with it - we just can't bank on poaching two tries in the last 10 to win.

Piakura looks better every game. I have got a feeling he wont be leaving that 17 anytime soon.
Smoothy had a brain fart but then did ok without being spectacular.
Cobbo was rocks and diamonds but kept showing up, so all good.
Looks like everyone survived it intact and theres the bye so im happy, even if the team was a little clunky.
On a side note, is the ref related to young tyson gamble because neither he nor the ref were particularly kind to us with a few rough calls.
Tyson was doing what tyson does and i think it threw them off in that first half. Hes a handy player for them. I wonder if innes is mentoring him on his sledging technique.

Credit to Butler, he couldn’t have done more to try and get Newcastle the win, was a full 80 minute effort. Man of the match in a losing side.

Played like we thought showing up was enough, and like we had eyes on the bye/origin, but at the end of the day got the win and that's all that matters.

Very sloppy from our guys to start the game. Probably had an eye on the Bye too early & didn’t have the energy to start the game from get go.

All the Origin players are less enthusiastic to start with.

Perhaps this line has been getting more attention i.e, Riki has been immense. He has been consistently ‘Gillett’ing week in week out & absolutely love it.

Kev messed up with our rotation & use of bench.

Smoothy can go back to cup. Perhaps the nerves of playing 1st grade but would prefer gassed up Paix at this stage.

Something’s wrong with Gary. His rushing out of line constantly gave those Knights.

Piakura is getting better.

Winning when we play bad, that was a valuable lesson to this team. Credit to Knights they were brilliant tonight

1st contact is what let us down tonight, we were always there but we never made it stick. Herbie and Oates rushing defence was highly ineffective. Flegler and Cobbo were detrimental but that aside we got the win and I feel it was a valuable lesson which can go a long way

I will be the first to admit I was hoping coming into the season Riki would be surpassed by someone like Piakura but he has been outstanding this season. He has a real focus in his work and some mongrel, I am so happy to be wrong.

- Kobe, Piakura, Jensen, Smoothy needs more game time.

Herbie was hot garbage tonight. His defensive reads can be very ordinary. He is very replaceable.
