Seriously, stop talking about Walsh at 7!!!

The modern game, the 1 is basically a second 7. Don’t be ridiculous, cut it out, you’re all better than this.

Especially when the obvious solution is Walters to 7, Mozer straight to 9.

Only saw the 2nd half but typical early season game.

Not sure what Walsh was thinking with Latrells try.

We really are missing Flegs because I don’t think our 8 (CJ) has the strength nor mongrel in him. Every time he took a hit up, he was stopped flat and had barely any post contact metres.

Maybe Baker can fit that role instead?

I really thought Baker was very good from the bench. He played well and definitely should not lose his spot as a few have alluded still tonight. Kobe won’t lose his spot yet but **** he has been shit. Marty was good in patches very rough most of it though I though. I think the best way to get the best out of Hetho is by getting Willison in the side somewhere. His frame and size means we have 4 big boys, a middle sized and a smally. I think whilst there was brain fades and errors in other areas I think Hetho and Taupau caused a lot of fucken headaches for us tonight.

I think everyone isn’t quite on the same wavelength in terms of rythym, timing, identifying and carrying out plays. It happens early on so I’m not concerned but it was a pretty obvious area of rust this week.

I think Billy was very average but I think his worst footy was when he had been on the field for far too long in that first stint. Let him take the sting out and some (25 minutes). Play Smothy until the 60th minute and get Bill back on.

Reyno had his moments. If he isn’t right just rest him, he hasn’t been good enough to start the year and if that means just having the week off than do it. The side currently doesn’t seem like it has his presence at all in it so just get Madden out there and let’s cross every limb known to man. Need him fit so rest him.

Ezra didn’t really do anything wrong, little bit quiet but that happened from time to time last year. Was always going to be a challenging game. As much as you don’t want players on his money being quiet as long as his quiet games come with solid defence and minimal **** ups it’s gonna happen at his age.

Jordan had that one shithouse tackle on Havili that opened the game up. Other than that pretty happy. Would like to see him compressing in and taking more runs out of our own end.

Brendan was immense as long as he is on the field awesome to have him starting. Hopefully MRC forgot the tackle because I was a bit worried there.

Jesse very solid I was happy with him. Not as good under the high ball this game but the standard he set will be hard to live up to every week in that area.

Deine awesome. Great cover defence. Great tries. No errors. Good defence. What else do you want from your 20 year old winger keeping someone like Oatesy out the team.

Staggs. Fucking excellent. Great in defence, threatening in offence. Obviously the one **** up in the draw and pass, it was well done by Latrell but Staggs fucked it really badly.

Cobbo. Fucking hell. Loved the contact in defence, was both physically and systematically awesome in defence. No brain fades and awesome in attack. Not only was that the best game he has played that was about as good a centre performance you can get. Well done

Walsh. Awesome. No need to say anything more (but I will). Had the error or two or three. If he just made sure that he was disciplined that first 20 sometimes even 40 he would go to another level again. Whilst he is winning the games you have to shut up and let it happen but there will be a game where his magic doesn’t work and the errors will hurt us.

Really just Walters, Hetho and Taupau that I would say had bad games. Some not so great moments from others at times but they were pretty much spread around evenly that didn’t really affect the individual performances of most players.

The way Walsh plays outside defensive positioning the rest wouldn't change much tbh, he is playing like a half in attack as it is right now.

I don't think there is huge harm to see how it goes but only in the right scenario to allow it happen(like our backup halfs being out etc).

Cobbo Staggs and Haas were good. The rest seemed like some vegas virus hit both teams. Never want to watch a bludger like that again

Big Ears:

- "Can't fault the effort"
- Had great defense
- Without saying his name, singled out Ilias MULTIPLE times
- Reporter trying to get Haas suspended for getting a hurt knee or something - this was weird
- "Gotta get our stuff right as we're a very good side as we showed tonight in patches"
- Murray: "We defended our errors really well"
The Bunnies look to be in for a long season. Latrell is dangerous when they get the ball in the opposition 20 but anything in their half and he isn't interested in taking any tough runs into the defence.

Maybe he will prove me wrong down the track but Illias looks to a very ordinary 7 and Cody Walker is starting to show his age.

I agree we shouldn't be making hethrington into a bash and barge prop.... but that's actually what we need at the moment. I think if he covered second row he would keep his spot as it increases his value, but he doesn't and the team can't have the luxury of a small middle on the bench while we adjust to life without flegler.
Well I think that depends. If we want to play similar to last year then yes you are right but if we were to work out backrowers more and target the edges of the middle bring the backrowers in towards the middle taking up some of that load I think there is a place for hetho. Again this depends on how baker continues and what the plan with Willison is, also what game plan kevie wants to run with.

Jensens the strongest player at the club
Only 50 less metres than Payne with 5 less possessions.

but he is always left on his back after every tackle ruining the play the ball speed, Haas on the other hand is rarely left off his feet because his core strength is out of the charts.

133m with 49 PC metres, which is third best for all forwards and fourth and fifth best if you include backs in FAR less time than both Patty and Payne and no missed tackles not good enough for you?

To put it in perspective, I’m actually not even sure Flegs had that many games even close to the above stats.

Flegs to be fair did less mins but he punched holes harder, the player we need to cover that role is obviously Willison.

We will not defeat the top tier teams with a completion rate around 70%. Early season you just have to complete and grind to wins.

Souths were poor tonight and all 3 of their tries were very soft. Penrith will eat that for breakfast.
