Baker average, very average. Won’t say completely shithouse but just average. Doesn’t belong in a full strength 17 and I’d be picking Te Kura on the bench before him as well. Whilst Payne is out I do think he is the most appropriate to start so no criticism on Kev in that regard for now.

Xavier is fucking awesome great game. That’s about as good as I have seen a 10 gamer chuck up 40 minutes. He has looked awesome in both games now after backing up a good pre-season and all-stars. He is the real deal.

Cobbo looked dangerous thought it was a relatively good game despite the error or two. Don’t think he was motm at all.

Reece was very rough around the edges but he will be better for the game back.

Madden leaves a lot to be desired, ALWAYS. Not the guy imo.

Staggs had a very good game without being special.

Hetho beast.

Carrigan MOTM leaps and bounds over the next best crop of players.

Arthars not great, don’t think that’s the edge for him imo. Would consider playing Pereira on the right, Arthars left and Oates 17.

As you can guess Oates very average.

Walters has his moments like always but he has some very painful decisions as well. He is a solid presence defensively and he has his moments. Smoothy always comes on and plays really smoothly (pun intended). Still would keep it like this though.

Riki average

Hunt think is copping a bit of a tough time. If you gave me these 3 performances as an option 3 weeks ago I would have run off laughing ecstatically. Nothing remotely amazing about his game but I think he has chucked up 2 fairly solid games and a very average game. I don’t ever sit watching the footy concerned about what he is going to do and that’s as much as I could ask for a back up second rower in our current shortage.

Ezra pretty good. Last year with Reyno out and Walsh having a poor game I would say it’s impossible for Mam to have had a good game himself but that hasn’t been the case at times this year. Doesn’t need his hand held which is what you want from your young half as he develops.

Loved being at the game because I never as intensely analyse and get worked up by things so nowhere near as negative as you lot. I saw a game that had some rusty shit but got me so siked for our full side.

I don't think players like Madden and Baker were that bad. Did what was expected, and it wasnt them making all the errors. It's a bit unfair to compare them to our superstars (who are paid a lot more too). While they can be better, they both played much better then previous weeks.
Madden needs to step up now. Every time he gets a crack he's on notice to show he can take over from Reynolds in the next couple of years. I'm not expecting him to setup four tries and create three line breaks every game but he's not really taking his opportunities at the moment.

The only worry with Weapon X is the head-knocks. He's been concussed multiple times already in his short career.

Combination of the expectations being too high and the narrative too strong. Same thing has consistently happened with Riki for ages. Even recently he's been playing great and collecting points in PotW and there are still people calling him out as useless...

If you aren't visibly a superstar scoring tries and making no errors, a lot of fans will think you are terrible.
Early candidate for post of the year, this is so bang on!

I know people aren't overly impressed with Hunt, and I think he's just not confident with ball in hand. But his work off the ball, especially on support plays is pretty good. He runs some pretty nice lines. I think he actually needs to be given a bit more ball in hand, i.e., get him a try and I think he will come on in leaps and bounds. Right now, he is the benchy (or even worse, rezzie) and that's in his head. He needs to be thinking about taking a spot from Riki or Piakura, not being the perpetual understudy.

Take the 2 without the troops and move on with the season.

Thought the bench was really strong bar Tristan as we were definitely worse with him in Ezra's place and he got absolutely destroyed by Isaako.

Carrigan and X, bravo.

Don't want to rush him back but I miss Reyno...

Fletcher baker is a plodder who doesn't deserve a Broncos jersey.
It doesn't make sense though. Physically he is the same, if not slightly bigger than Flegler, yet he has no punch in attack or defence. Surely it's a confidence thing, right?

I will say it again but it's still criminal that Willison didn't play round 1, Baker has played every game while stinking up the joint, while Willison has been god amongst men every time he has played, including trials.

The boy is ready to start, would rather Marty at this point over baker.

if he doesn't get injured he will be in the Kiwis team this year 100%

He is bigger than Flegler by a Margin but what makes him unique is he is fast asf for his size as well.

Willisons body composition this year is nuts, he is lean and full of muscle the guy is a tank with speed.

Yeah, Baker is definitely missing Flegler's speed. But at the same time, there are other forwards who aren't particularly fast, but they always bend the line. In comparison, Baker pretty much always gets easily dominated. How can someone with his size be so easy to handle?

Despite a poor performance Jock set up two tries tonight.

He's still very much in the learning phase of the game, he's only played 24 games for ***** sake. He's coming into a side hit with injuries and playing well below their best and people wonder why he's not hitting the ground running? Give the guy some fucking time. He's struggling a bit at the moment but he's going to have these patches, he's still quite raw.

He was doing quite well last year in Reyno's absence.

I remember a lot of people saying the same shit about Ben Hunt over and over and over again. We let him go to the Dragons and he becomes one of the elite halfbacks in the game.

Reyno doesn't retire until the end of next year and there's literally **** all out there available during that period. Give him time to develop and show why he should be the one taking over when Reyno calls it.

His kicking game got better later in the game, but I'm still not convinced he is a viable post Reyno option.

We could still easily make top 8 with him I think(due to our elite Fullback, centres and forwards) but as it stands right now we need to find someone else to get us in a premiership window.

I'm not either, but it's still far too early to make a definitive call.
Luckily there is time, and players to look at.

Brad Schneider is one to watch at Panthers for me, he has taken the Cogger role this year, a Young QLD half who has always had wraps on him one to watch.

Ideally a QLDer is what you want as a long term option as they are more likely to stay, our key players are young and it's ideal to give us a big premiership window.
