So how many weeks does Milford get for his dog shot on Walsh? My guess.....0

Agree regarding Staggs.

Willison needs to stay on the bench though for all the reasons mentioned by others. If we can get over some of the niggles and not need to carry a back on the bench, Hetherington, Willison & Te Kura (once given more time) will be an insane bench.
That bench is insane, having willison and te kura running at you is bad enough, but when you are attacking and you see them so you pick the smaller player to run at (hetherington) and he cuts you in half.

Although our completion rate was way down again, what was noticeably better than last week was the ruck control. This week our defenders were not the last off the ground and dictated the speed of the play the ball. It makes such a difference in arresting the oppositions momentum.

Milford has no desire to be an NRL player anymore. For someone to be out of first grade for as long as he has, you would expect they'd be in the best shape of their lives for whenever they get the call up. For him to be in the shape that he is in speaks volumes on his attitude towards his career. Why has be become so rotund? It's concerning.

When he took a hit up, I genuinely thought he was playing in the forward pack for a second. He made one defensive effort off a 30m kick chase and he was already huffing and puffing.

He looked like one of those ex-players that have been retired for 10 years playing in one of those charity matches.

Combination of the expectations being too high and the narrative too strong. Same thing has consistently happened with Riki for ages. Even recently he's been playing great and collecting points in PotW and there are still people calling him out as useless...

If you aren't visibly a superstar scoring tries and making no errors, a lot of fans will think you are terrible.

Not necessarily. Jensen has (rightly so) been getting a lot of praise for his work - I can't believe he was surplus to the Cowboys' needs, though I think at the time some people were saying he just needed a change of scenery.

Sexton is still down at bulldogs isn't he? QLDer with decent kicking game, has seemed to play decently when he has had the opportunity but is stuck behind drew for some reason.

It wasn't his best game but ffs corey jensen is INSANELY consistent.

You need players like him in every team, arthurs and even staggs now but to a higher level are the same. Will never be your best but will always give you a 7/10-ish.

If broncos play it smart I think we should re-sign whoever is willing to be cheaper out of cobbo and staggs (I think staggs is more important but cobbo is the better player - I'd go staggs bcos he'd be cheaper as well) and do the same with hethrington and jensen, prioritise willison and Walsh out of this next lot.
Mozer and black out of the 2025 lot as well then baker, hunt, hoeter etc can be told they get a deal if they are happy with minimum wage and back up positions. As good a back up as sailor is he will likely be a sacrifice too.

The media saying "salary cap drama" because we have so many off contract, it's actually the opposite. The club get to direct and massage the money into who and what we need rather then being held to ransom.

We have 2/3 of haas, Te Kura and willison together with carrigan, walsh and mam and the rest of the squad is luxury, they just need to be solid and consistent with a decent kicking game from someone.

Well, when you have $1 million of your salary cap invested in a declining Prop forward and the same for a single strike centre, you're forced to make roster decisions that...you know...are gunna come back and haunt you..

He burned his bridges up there and by the time he sort of knuckled down they had already made the decision.

All i can say about this game is; job done. When rd 26 comes around we can appreciate the 2 points but...move on.

A lot of talk on the thread about Baker & Hunt. I do wonder if Hunt scored that gimme 4 pointer instead of knocking on how the chat around him may be different tonight?

I do hope both of them work out for us. Frankly theres not much downside here if they dont.

In my opinion, the reason they are in the first team roster is because we no longer throw young talent into the deep end and say to them "sink or swim". That was the Brisbane of 3-4 years ago - not today.

Neither Willison (the new Brad Thorn surely?) or Te Kura are ready to play 80 minutes of NRL standard football today. We need to ease them into it BUT we also need a few men who can handle the grind of a NRL season too?

Particulary as injury cover. For mine, that is the role of Baker and Hunt this year.

By the time the first week of finals football arrives, i'm fully expecting Willison and Te Kura to be integral parts of our bench.

Speaking of which; lets never run out a bench like that again? A failed experiment...

Decent kicking game? All he can do is grubber

I always believe you need a workhorse or two in your forward pack who provide solid metres and defensive workload but not going to cost you an arm and a leg in the process which allows you to spend more money on the bigger impact forwards like Haas or Carrigan and that is the role Jensen fills perfectly. He deserves the praise he gets.
