I've not been impressed with Mariner since he has returned from injury. A couple of times in each match since his return he has come up with some dumb and lazy plays, or moments where he is not paying attention leading to basic errors. He needs to find the form he had earlier in the season.

I thought Ezra was looking like he wanted the ball, but then copped that HIA... I'm interested to see how he goes now without Reynolds.

I don't want to see him trying to be a 7 with game managing and kicking, but we will need him to take more ownership of the attack now and he's looked pretty good at this year when Reynolds hasn't been there.

I think Ezra fluctuated all game. He really looked like he was about to kick on after Arey went off, then as you said, the HIA happened and it was all over.

Terrible first half, we then came out after half time, started righting the ship and then got smashed with absolutely everything that could go wrong going wrong including some significant injuries. We were already struggling and then that just killed the game.

The Roosters were fantastic but we played so stupid that it made them look even better. We will learn a lot out of that game though because until we lost Reynolds on the back of Arthars and then Mam as well plus the sinbin, it just came a bridge too far. I'm not worried at all, unlikely to have a night that bad again any time soon.

The "effort" he made on the Roosters 3rd try was so poor.

I don't think the Roosters were anywhere near as good as everyone seems to think. We were just terrible, and the injuries played their part.

We should have been 18-0 midway through the first half, if we had any respect at all for either the football or our opposition. The scoreline blew out but make no mistake, we lost that game more than the Roosters won it. We had them on the rack repeatedly and let them off. All they had to do was hold the ball and wait for us to fold, which we did, repeatedly.

Beyond frustrating. As much as I like the 20 minute domination, as a club we really need to do something about the rest of the shit. We cannot win a premiership playing like this, no matter how good we might be in that 20-minute period. We have got to be smarter.

Mariner has been pretty poor but I think we need to realise how young and inexperienced he still is. He’s actually been ok in defence but let himself down in attack.
Feel like it's just the last two weeks... his head has been all over the place.

Prior to that he was killing it and there was no chance anyone was taking that spot off him.

Be good to see how he reacts to a bit of adversity. Like with all young players, they have dips in form. Everything was going well for him and first grade was looking easy. Now its not so much. That lack of effort on the Rorters 3 or 4 try ( cant remember which ) concerns me more than his decision making or his drop ball from last week.

Thinking about how the Chooks shut down Reece. We have one of the better forward packs going around yet we keep trying to go around teams which was working but teams have now figured out that you just let Reece drift to the outside then he will try a low percentage play to force an outcome. When he dropped that ball back on the inside to Staggs there was a huge hole there from the Chooks defenders doubling up on Reece. Maybe turning balls back inside using Reece as bait and keep attacking teams down the middle is now a better option than the wrapping plays out the back to Reece?

Shit way to start the weekend.

We have not won a game against a serious contender (roosters, storm and panthers), and 3 out of 4 of those games we have let 30+ points be scored against us.

The teams we have beaten, cowboys, raiders and tigers all had shockers against us, and dolphins were missing their gun players.

Hardly convincing, and it looks like we haven't been blessed with minimal injuries like last year.

Prior to the last 2 weeks I think the only thing he really didn't do right was be ready for a kick in behind the line by Reynolds or Walsh.

Last 2 weeks his effort errors in attack have been pretty poor and has shown signs of being in La La land.
Really needs to pick his game up with Arthars out. Jesse will be straight back in the team,
Whether that's for Oates or Mariner. this is Oatesys chance to get his Jersey back.

Disappointing effort from the Broncos. They had been very patchy the previous few weeks but with a full-strength line-up they had every reason to assert themselves over the Roosters. Instead they played loose and effectively messed around and found out in the most brutal way possible.

The issue is the Broncos play a high risk high reward style that often leads to patchy performances. We saw it tonight and they were actually on their way to taking a lead until a forced Walsh pass led to a predictible drop from Riki. They live and die by the sword and by the time they rarely work for the quick play the ball which is such a vital part of the modern game.

We saw it tonight from the Roosters, Tedesco half-break, draws in Walsh and Reynolds. Walsh goes back to cover the kick, Crichton realises he's only got one marker and scores an incredibly soft try that completely changed the game.

I can't blame anyone for writing the season off. 0-4 against the quality teams and by rights if the Broncos were a serious team they would have won it easy. To lose 40-18 is a reflection of where they're at and it would take a massive effort to turn things around from here.
You did watch the game right? You are aware of the injuries/HIA’s? I’m just asking because it seems like you didn’t.
