Broncos need ..... ????

I reckon Sims would have helped our cause against the Storm. They were running at us with no fear and a couple of hits to their ribs could have changed that somewhat. The cheap niggly stuff that Blair did doesn't work - it just makes people work harder to hurt you back, but on the scoreboard. But a hard, legal whack to your ribs has you looking in the line for the perpetrator next time, shepherds you to run a less desirable line, makes you second guess. We need that sort of forward moving, um, forward.

An interesting point from post-game. I think it was Ben Hunt who said something like "we had areas of weakness that we tried to exploit but it didn't work". I don't know if that means they went against the game plan, or it means they tried to exploit the supposed weaknesses but the Storm allowed for it and wouldn't break.

But what that says to me is that we need a committed tactician. Bennett looks after our mindset. JD looks after our attacking structure. But who is pulling apart the opposition and identifying their weaknesses? I know someone would be, but I don't think they're doing a very good job. In terms of "structure", we're not that bad because we can get in to attacking positions quite well and when we do pull off a good attacking play, it looks a million dollars. But they'll only come off if it's a play that exploits a weakness, or comes after some lead-up work that creates that weakness. That's what we seem to be missing. The tactics that are opposition-specific that you can just tell Smith & Cronk have endlessly pored over in video sessions.

I'm thinking Gillett to lock as well with Bird taking his right second row spot.

Why would we move Gillo he is our best half body guard and holds the right side defence together brilliantly even when he has been down later half of the season. He also needs more time attacking fringes not middle.

Locks are either (or combination) of an extra prop, a monster impact runner, a ball playing runner or a defensive 50 tackle Mr fix-it in the centre. Can't see Gillo how fits (wasted as a Dallas Johnson style lock). Wouldn't mind trying bird but we already have a small pack and think he might be best at hooker (Macca can play a bit of hooker and a bit of defensive lock late in game to keep up tight).

Really miss Parker think he went a year early but making him captain screwed us. Arrow would have been ideal replacement but heaven forbid we use a young talented player.

Need to get Moose out of lock to keep him on target as a prop.

Maybe TPJ if he can keep defence tight early and Bird after 20 (don't like him as an 80 minute forward will just blunt his strengths) is most realistic good solution which gives us drive early and allows us to play expansive later.

Big worry no matter the solution is as we saw other night 4 running 'ballplayers' without a central organiser is a shambles. Need an organiser to tell the forwards where and when to run and a kicker so they aren't always doing so from their own try line constantly.

Tyrone Roberts for me is best bet at moment on a middling 2 year deal, the use his friendship with Taylor to help lure him back. They can be halfback and five eight. Milf back to fb.

Smith is supposed to be a very smart man , add experience to that and you have a master taction.

Gillo is similar to bird , but just bigger in my eyes. How often does he hit the fringes?? Not saying we definitely should move him but he just seems to be a tackle machine now. I would love to see some big units like oates hitting holes on the edges .

We need a spine where all players in said spine have the same desire to win, give more than they think they can, and to play for each other as a team. Every. Single. Game.

For all his commented failings, you can't say Macca doesn't give absolutely everything he has. We need more players with his attitude.

Dodds tbh.

Problem is the guy can’t walk without injuring himself it seems. I remember in 2010 or 11 he was touted with McGuire as our next ‘Webcke + Civo’ pairing of props. Could never seem to get a start, keep it, or stay injury free under Hook

no talk of the front row stocks which is bordering on pathetic now. Cowboys suiting up with Scott and Mclean next year yet we have another season of having little certainty around ours.
Bronx are seriously lacking in the big boppers. They need at least 3 quality ones

@Smokin' Joe could well be onto something with carney. (he is rarely wrong)
i did some digging around and it seems it came down to a choice of 3, jnik, hastings or carney.
drums are beating strongly for a 1yr deal for todd, he is dirt cheap and has the experience required to fill the 7 jumper until the 2019 season.
im not saying its a dead certainty but that seems to be the mail as noted by @Smokin' Joe
he is a risk in my opinion but only needs to keep it together for 12 months!!! surely that can be achieved

How would this make KNik feel ?

That sounds like ash is a good chance for a return.

I just can't picture Carney in a Broncos jersey and wouldn't be proud to have him. His attitude just makes the club look bad and I wouldn't want somebody like that representing the colours.

I reckon we should have faith in Knick. He has been a gun for somebody who hasn't had a proper preseason at halfback and his attitude is something you can't teach.
