Badel:

"News Corp understands the new deal will see Walters’ salary instantly increased by $100,000 to around $550,000 this season. The fresh two-year extension is worth an estimated $600,000 annually. The beefed-up Walters contract is also bolstered with incentives that could see him earn an extra $400,000 if he hits a number of performance targets for making the finals, the top four and winning a premiership."

Lockyer:

“Kevvie has done a wonderful job. He has done a really good job to create that enjoyment factor for the players. Winning helps but they want to play with each other as you see after the game in the dressing rooms. It is really good to see those things and Kevvie has played a massive part in it.”
“I just think the holdup has been because everyone is busy. But we didn’t feel like the new deal is going to blow up and it won’t happen. It is just a formality really. Dave Donaghy has done a great job as well and Simon Scanlan has come in. Not disrespecting the previous regime, but the mandate under Donaghy and Walters was stability. We just had too much churn with players and staff and we had to stabilise the club. Those guys have been integral in getting that done.”

Reynolds:

“I’m pleased for Kevvie. He is a good coach and a great mentor and he bleeds what the Broncos are about. There is no better man to take this club forward. He is a very passionate person and he wants to get the club back to the top again.”
Walters:

“We’re not there yet, but I love my job and the march from that moment when I came here in 2021 has always been forward. We’re not finished yet. My word we have more to achieve, it’s only early days really, but the Broncos have a history of winning premierships and I have great faith in this team to build their own era.”
Wow, if that’s how much the assistant coach gets, imagine how much they must be paying Reynolds

Badel has shown his hand. he clearly thinks we will win 2 premierships over the course of Kevvies new contract ... because the premiership bonuses are the only way Kev get's near the "monster $1.7 million" 2 year contract extension.

100k??!? What the fucking ****? Is that how kevvie got his foot in the door? By presenting himself as the cheapest option, willing to work for peanuts? What were the other candidates charging? If that figure is true then billy was earning more than kevvie last season.

Badel needs to find a new job already.
The beer mat estimate is this:

2023: 100k (upgrade)
2024: 600k (base) 200k (performance bonus)
2025: 600k (base) 200k (performance bonus)

That's a 1.7M deal. If you were to report less than that it would be short-selling critical detail. That detail is expanded in the copy. Nothing to get snarky about here. Basic reading comprehension.

Where did you get that number? He's just been given an immediate 100k payrise for this season as part of a longer contract extension. We're lead to believe he was on 450k. But we know not to take all these numbers literally.

Yeah, the disgusting snake oil salesman can go f*** himself but I’ll gladly take the 2 Premierships & Kev can have his $M’s thanks!

It's quite disturbing how this poster gets you blokes all riled up over his blatant misinterpretations of everything he reads.

Alright, take a walk Einstein.

You keep arguing to dumb thing’s trying to prove you’re the smart one in the room when it’s clear as a day, you’re not. I can’t stoop to your level and argue with your abysmal take on things.

If Kevvie is worth that amount, what are we worth.

We seem to know all the problems with the team, just read the game day threads. 😂

I don't mind overpaying a bit for a low experience coach like Kevvie, he is a Broncos Legend, to have an in house legend coaching your team to success is what most teams dream of.

I get alot of people are results only when it comes to this but there is alot of satisfaction if one of our boys takes us to success.

I hear sailor on the radio last night being pretty negative about kev getting an upgrade.

More or less saying kev has proven nothing and just look what happened at end of last year. to prove his point.

Not sure if he is right or not but just odd that most ppl in media are saying its probbaly a good move as it gives the broncos players stability to know what coaching stufff will be for next few years. he is one of the only few saying broncos should not have done it.

Wonder if hes a little peeved kev has not picked his son or he is just not holding punches and giving his honest opinion

Great news - stability is key and players like Carrigan, Arthurs, Mariner resigning recently shows the playing group are smelling what Kev is stepping in.

Does this mean that 'will Kev survive?' thread can finally be laid to rest?
