Tino is definitely a sensible and mature young man, and he makes a very good captain, but there is a lot of hype being given to him that may affect his game, and that of his team.

I just finished re-watching the match, and there are many times that Tino gets himself into no-man's land at marker, slow to reload from a tackle, and overplays his hand in defense. He certainly does have a high output in defense, but he looked gassed quite early in that match and the commentators were still drooling over his efforts, rather than pointing out that he was lucky not to be targeted more for being slow to get back into the defensive line.

The Broncos targeted him before he was sent off, and the ref should have actually penalised him earlier in that set with a six-again. The commentators (Parker, I think) missed him being called out for being too deep the first time, but it was there. It easily could have happened 20-30 min into the match as well.

Why Patty flicked Dave's face.

Dave runs in with a raised arm copping Patty on the chin. Note Dave's left hand is also raised.

Dave proceeds to push at Patty's face with his left hand.

Yeah and Patty went over to the ref and indicates that he came in with raised forearms... just to be dismissed by the ref.

It was pretty clear live what had happened, and Patty's retaliation was pretty tame

No charge for that so called dangerous lifting tackle.

The Titans player is put directly on his back, but somehow that's dangerous.

I blew up that tackle but whenever a player is lifted, unless they're placed back on their feet it's more often than not going to be a penalty.

As for the Carrigan penalty...

Payne and Reese on top of Dally M with Harry Grant. 20 points a piece.

I honestly think billy will look 100 times better by the end of the season. When the likes of Walsh and mam are used to his runs from dummy half and start to back him up. They have really only played 7 games together. That's not an awful lot for a spine. Paix had his best game of the season last night, it was so good to see. I think he's been completely ordinary to start the year though, Hopefully we get more of the same.
Problem is Billy doesn’t know which way he’s running so neither will they.
In fact at times he stops and runs in circles.
Hard task for Walsh or Mam to latch onto that sort of play.

some people have some unrealistic expectations , thinking we should be a finished product with still so many youngsters in our squad.

They want it every week too.

Having said that, we will need to provide the sort of defence that won us the game against Penrith if we want to beat Parramatta.

It is probably also good to remember that if the rules were actually enforced, at least two of the Titans' tries clearly should not have been given.

- In the lead up to their first one, there was a 5m+ forward pass
- Their second last try, the Broncs basically had it covered until Riki pulls up sore
- In the last one, Khan-Pereira did exactly the same thing Cobbo did for which he was denied

So you take out even two of those, the defensive score line is much better. That said, I think it id good they let in those tries as it allows the coaches to pick them apart and say - see, this is why you have to keep the foot down, learn to be ruthless.

I heartely recommend this guys work to you all as well, well worth a read if you have time this Sunday.

I read a cpl of his columns .
His units of measurement for performance are whacky . Measured in Dave Taylors !!?? WTF ?

The last try ?
Did Patty think he was playing volley ball and performed a set for the spiker ?
Just catch it and take the tackle next time .

I was reflecting on this today. What was going through his mind when he batted it back? Why not just catch it and take the tackle, especially with 30 secs to go!

He is a smart player but he does have the odd low percentage nonsense in him from time to time, that said the biggest issue with that play was the unlucky bounce, 9 times out of 10 it doesn't bounce back.

This isn't true..

He runs right, realizes nobody is running off him and then turns left to look what is happening the other way. In your defense he should just go left straight away on some of those occasions as there's usually a prop standing flat footed, but that's not what you've said here.

You‘ve simply repeated what I said. No body is ever with him. Point of the conversation. But I’m happy for you to have your own opinion. Nothing much will change until Daddy is forced into the decision.

Players should be with him looking to get their hands on the ball, on both of his sides. That's what the good teams do.

Agree. Also he should follow his instincts but there in lies the main problem.
