Hooper on NRL 360 said that the NRL have confirmed that the Panthers blocking tactics to protect Clearly are illegal.

Hooper says they have been "led to believe that this tactic won't be tolerated" lol
So we'll cop penalties for it all night then

He didn't mention the Panthers he just restated the rule.

Maxwell said today.

"The rules are very specific that players who are not in possession of the ball cannot deliberately be obstructed,

"Of course, players are not required to move out of the way of the defenders but equally they cannot deliberately move into the path of defenders.

"Referees are required to assess the impact of any possible interference in all aspects of play and rule accordioning."

Expectation is a funny thing isn’t it.

All the media are talking about a three-peat and the experience of the Panthers giving them the advantage.

That’s expectation right there…. Just turn up and you’ll win. Well…. Doesn’t work that way.

This Panthers team are awesome, no question. They’re like robots. But I tell you now there’ll be feeling the pressure of expectation.

The Broncos were not expected to do so well this season, there wasn’t that expectation. Because if that, they were able to go out there, make mistakes, suffer consistently poor officiating and yet still come equal first on the ladder with Panthers. Half way through the season, all the experts were expecting us to drop away like the previous year. Every week there was a shadow of doubt cast on us. We brushed that aside and kept turning up.

We made the finals. But hey, unlucky, you have to play the Storm who haven’t lost to you forever. We beat them and beat them well.

So we face the Wahs in the prelims. Wahs became the media darlings all of a sudden, and SJ was the player to take down the Broncos. We beat them and beat them well despite a poor start.

So we face the Panthers in the GF. Can’t possibly beat these. They’ve played in 3 consecutive GFs and win the last 2. They’re vastly superior in GF experience compared to the Broncis who have done well just to get there.

That’s fine. We’ve seen this all season.

Expectation. It’s a funny thing, but it’s not stone wall guaranteed.

Go you mighty Broncos.

I’m also expecting to beat them well this week too.

No one is arguing that an offload doesn’t have an impact. The narrative has become the Eels offloaded excessively and it played a major part in the game and beating the Panthers. It’s simply not true.

Now does that mean an offload can’t work or won’t work on Sunday no. What I’m pointing out is you don’t have to offload 45 times to beat them.

The Broncos last week more than doubled their offloading output from the season and no one has even had to get close to doing that to beat Penrith.

OK fair call .
It`s where and when . Carrigan, Flegler and Haas even Tapau offloads have lead to a lot of tries this season .
Broncos love to attack from 40 - 50 metres out . But when in the 20 offloads , then shifts are how they break up the defence regularly .

Anyone expecting Penrith to do us by 20 is fair dinkum having a go.

We beat them Round 1, they got us later in the season but that without Reynolds, even at our absolute worst there were a few games there where it took them all of 65-70 minutes to put the game to bed, we’ve troubled them on more than one occasion. They definitely won’t be as confident as they will feel they are entitled to be.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!! :
Daylight savings starts this Sunday 1st October, so the kick off time for QLDers is 6:30pm AEST (QLD time). Kick off in NSW and VIC is 7:30pm AEDT.

Would hate to read people sitting down to watch the game and its already 10 mins into the second half.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in this thread or elsewhere yet, so thought I'd just pass the info along.

It's the NRL. Jimmy Barnes is probably still screaming and destroying ear drums at the scheduled kick off. That or Eskimo joe boring everyone to tears.

AFL probably has the top shelf entertainment and NRL probably has someone from The Voice looking to upsell their latest hit

No idea who King Stingray is, but the pre-match entertainment is the best time to go away and do something productive, like a nervous poo.

He might bring this guy:

King Stingray are excellent. Surf Rock style of music. Bunch of lads from Arnhem Land I think. Much better than a Tina Turner tribute band.

Cool to see them rather than the usual same type of bands they trot out each year.
