That shouldn't be an excuse. Milf definitely looks a few kg overweight. Bird looks fat. Both should get in better shape with the money they are getting.

To be fair, if Bird is indeed moving to lock then it was always expected that he would put on a bit of weight.

Sorry, but if you are being paid over 700k a year to play rugby League and you're not shredded as feasibly possible for your position and current injury status you are overpaid. Unprofessional.

This. Milford would have to be over indulging to the extreme to look the way he does. They train for a living so they should be shredded, especially the backs in particular.

We all saw the photo of Milford on the raft..

Look at him and Bird while standing.

What’s most concerning about that photo is he has fat hanging over the back of his shorts.
That is how out of shape bodies look. I should know, I currently have it because I eat shit food at even worse times.
When I manage to get even remotely in shape and stop eating crap, I lose that.

Relax. Bird has said he just doesn't have a cut body. Peoples' bodies are different.

How long ago was that picture taken?

We used to be flogged up and down Maroubra beach, no life rafts paddling or zooper dooper shit in sight.

Lets see how next few games go - however IMO there some kind of cultural/mental/issue happening.

Either its coaching staff pandering, senior players carrying on like clowns when running out of the sheds for first game of the season (thaiday, it really pissed me off), individuals sooking about their positions, individuals thinking they are entitled to big $$$, people not going back on their word when they are wrong.

Things like this put all good player off. Other put less heart in, and others show less commitment.

Define `flogged' for us, just so we can be sure we aren't talking about something completely different and illegal in various countries including Australia.

Time for a clean out.

Bennett has to stop playing favourites. Without a huge change can’t see a premiership in next 2 years anyway. So why don’t we put a few young guys in line to step up.

Thaiday Qcup (origin backup and maybe last home game send off)
Glenn Qcup at least a month, needs a lot of fast twitch muscle training
Boyd not to return till fit and confident.
Gillett less minutes if his form slump from end of last year continues.
McCullough out when can find a replacement unless he learns to be a threat from hooker and speed up service.

Milf on notice give him a month, if won’t use him at fullback send him to the Ikin brothers for a month or use him as Bench impact player to get his groove back.
K Nik needs a 2 month promise to give him a fair shot.

Opa, Sua (in 2 weeks), isaako, Offa need a month to find their place.
Offer one of the backup halves a shot if these 2 fail or give Bird a crack in spine.

Biggest inclusions however need to be a top class sports psychologist to get guys performing to potential and guys like Webke and Hodgo to get the culture back and team playing for each other.

Don’t think this is panic. Get it is round 1 after disrupted pre season and a prelim finish but these are dead weights that will stop us winning a premiership (except Gillo) that have been around our neck for 2 years (although admit McCullough was better last year, his running was slow pre acl would need insight don’t think he or the coach has).

We can drop half the team to Qcup.
