Hmmm insightful heartly .
Remember when Payne debuted and he tried running cross field and Klemmer nailed him ?

I guess he can leave the hitting to Patty and Flegs .

I think by the time Payne retires 15 years from now, few will remember his days as a Brisbane Bronco. He'll be more remembered for this conversation with a female cop and her partners:

"Why you looking at me like that? Cause you’re a woman and you think that I won’t touch ya?"
"**** the ID, I don’t need to give you ID. You got a badge on you and you think you’re a fucking tough ****. You put my family in jail you *****.”
“Don’t come near me bro, I’ll fucking jab ya, on my mother’s life I will. Get the **** out of here bro, get the **** out of my face or I’ll take all of you on myself you fuckwits.”

He`s very lucky he didn`t get pepper sprayed and then tazered for good measure .
Coppers are soft these days .

True but where we probably differ. You are probably one of those, you're mostly always right therefore you're representative of the right thinkers and accordingly you will tend to think there's a lot more like you. Not a crime, we're all a bit like that.

I don't agree though, I believe most won't give it a second thought...after a while and providing he plays well for us as I suggested earlier.
It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Our next home game is Canberra a couple days after origin, so he could be rested for that... if so the next game he'll likely play at Suncorp is Origin 3.

Can only imagine the reception he'll get for that game!!

I'm talking about a much longer time span , 12-24 months. Over a career it might not even get a second glance.

Payne uses Cam Smith style of tackle to conserve energy. It is one of the reasons his motor is so good. He is never expending energy trying to put hits on or ending up on the ground trying to get up. Also decreases his risk of high shots. It is smart but like you point out it makes him lack an aggressive edge.
It's telling a big bloke like him never gets pinged. On one hand it looks like he's well disciplined. On the other, it makes him unthreatening.

I'm bored by Payne. I was relieved he wanted to leave.

Can you make up your own words? Okay. You’re a deadset moron. Using my exact words to DM an NRL player to bag him out.
Grow up you loser, acting as if I put your name and address underneath the dm. Legit get over yourself mate.

PAYNE, a GENTLEMAN of BRISBANE, is enjoying a BEVERAGE with his BELOVED.

Enter a group of OFFICERS of the LAW.

FIRST OFFICER: You, sir, have you ID?

PAYNE: What, you talk of ID? I hate the word,
As I hate hell, all Police Officers, and thee:
Have at thee coward!
For you but a woman, you believe that I will not bite my thumb at thee??

I think undoubtedly you are correct, particularly if in that timeframe he does sign an extension, all will be forgiven by most (but not all).

I think he is a fine player .
I also think he has a way to go before he is the best in his position . Getting to the ground quicker , offloads that lead to tries and more aggression in defence are areas I think he can improve .

Seeing Patty Carrigan nearly chop a bloke in half with a legit clean tackle a few weeks back reminded me how passive Haas is in defence . Hugger , not a hitter .

I've been saying for a while he doesnt have much physicality about him. Reminded me of something i heard Gillmeister saying about him last year. There was some chat about origin and he was comparing Payne to Webcke and was saying he isnt close to Webcke in his opinion yet ( cant remember the whole jist of the conversation ). He basically said if you had both on your team, which one would you want to take the first hit up in an Origin decider?

Webcke is way ahead of him, he could destroy you on both side of the footy. The only thing he couldn't do was trade hands but then again Campion was a tough SOB himself.

I would have Patty , Flegs and Jensen before Payne on what we have seen this season .
Jensen has been a revelation the last month or so . Post contact metres , quick play the balls , low error count . Patty and Flegs off loading leading directly to tries .
Also young Wilson in the wings that kid impressed me big time last year. Once he fills out he could be something special.

Payne is great but I think the turning point for our team was him sitting out that week. The boys got a chance to do it without him. They found out there is a lot of talent here and mates they can get in the trenches with.

In case you didn't notice Willison, Mozer and Staggs are all signed out to 2025. We'll win the Premiership that year.
