Should we be worried for 2017?

Outside looking in you would think that should work for us given we basically have two five eights anyway. Where it goes horribly wrong is when you have a quick play the ball and it goes to the middle forward who then proceeds to slow everything down.

Argh, nothing frustrates me more that watching a forward pass the ball to another forward in a worse position, who then gets smashed and pushed back 5m because the original forward telegraphed the whole thing......or worse drops the ball because he wasn't expecting it (in before, they should always expect to get the ball :P)

But players should always be expecting the...nevermind.

So many people are reading into this trial like it was a real game! I think everyone needs to take a step back, wait tll we are a few games in then assess where we're at.
1. I agree, lets not panic until we are at least a few games in.

2. It's not just 1 trial mate. Its the last 8-10 months.

I think we should be worried about this season. Here is why.....

1) our 6, 7 & 9 are not consistent enough to win us the big games. Not since Lockyer have I been confident that we can close out a game. Take the Cowboys and storm. They have people in those important positions to win you the right games.
Agreed. Worst thing is our hooker has a better kicking game than our halves but rarely uses it.
2) our kicking game. I don't care what anybody says but our kicking game has to be the worst in the Comp. Hunt and milfords lack of ability to get repeat sets kills us and kills any momentum we have!
Add Benji to that mix, kicking the ball out on the full or into the crowd and we are in trouble.
I think we will be around 7th or 8th but unfortunately I can't see us making any impact in the finals unless something changes.
I think that is being optimistic to say the least.

jd123 i was thinking of ignoring you but then your posts are so ridiculous it is quite good entertainment

Brisbane Broncos overhaul attack in a bid to break premiership drought

THE Broncos have undergone a drastic overhaul of their attacking structures in a bid to break the longest premiership drought in the club’s history this season.
New Broncos skipper Darius Boyd has revealed Brisbane’s game plan to blow rivals off the park as they prepare for Thursday night’s season opener against premiers Cronulla.
Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has given his new assistant coach Jason Demetriou the task of reshaping Brisbane’s offence following their second-week finals exit last season.
The result is more responsibility for halves Anthony Milford and Ben Hunt, who have been ordered to straighten the Broncos’ attack at every opportunity.
Hunt came under fire last season for losing faith in his forte — running the ball — but Boyd says that will change this season as Brisbane look to snap an 11-year title hoodoo.
“We have got some new structures in attack this year which I’m really excited about,” Boyd told The Courier-Mail.

“Jason Demetriou has come on board and he has brought in some new structures and shapes that the ballplayers are really enjoying.
“It’s more focused around ‘Milf’ and Ben (Hunt). We want them on the ball more and running the ball more.
“We want to get the ball in their hands as much as possible.
“We’re still learning the new structures and hopefully it leads to plenty of points.
“It’s important for it to become muscle memory — we need to have everything in order for round one against the Sharks.”
The Broncos weren’t exactly impotent last season. They finished the regular season ranked sixth in the NRL in offence, scoring 554 points at an average of 23 per game.
But there were stages last season when Milford and Hunt struggled to take control of Brisbane’s attack, particularly during the mid-season slump that cost the Broncos a top-four berth.
Boyd was a formidable threat last season chiming into the line on back-man plays but the classy custodian won’t be expected to lift his involvement.

“It’s not so much about me getting involved,” he said.
“I don’t think you’ll see as much running from me, it will be more taking control of some attacking shapes on the field and not rushing around to get to certain positions.
“There will be a lot more clarity around our attack, which will make Andrew McCullough’s job easier in where to go with the football out of dummy half.
“Jason (Demetriou) has also simplified things for the forwards in relation to where they need to be on the field.
“I’m excited to see how we are going to attack this year. I think what we’re planning is going to work ... it’s just a matter of perfecting it.”

Kinda proves Walters had a bit to do with our attack in 2015. We scored some amazing tries and a lot of those long range too. Hopefully JD can spark some slick offence too

No wonder Demetriou looked filthy post WCC. If the idea is to get milf and Bhunt more ball they failed pretty miserably over there. It's exciting for this year though

This. I will judge our spine when they are not playing against a team
that was only back 7 metres and allowed to leave before the play the ball. I watched that game again and if they were onside and back the 10 then those 2 guys that did the charge downs are the fastest players to ever play the game.

Only for how the mind coach has planned avoiding the origin slump this year.

His sojourn to UK during that period and the complete collapse took 6 weeks to recover from and ultimately fucked our top 4 chances.

We could well be 0-5 to start the season. But it would be ok to be dark horses come the back end, I think it suits Hunt and co. Playing style
Most ridiculous thing I've read this season

Opening a can of well opened worms but did the flat passing coincide with Macca at 9?

I fear his passing may be a big part of it, it's always had its share of misdirection but also a lack of speed, particularly in attacking positions.
No

Here's hoping
He don't care one bit what anyone else says about him. And that's why he's such a fantastic Coach and leader.

The players can learn so much from him just him being him. If he started to care what the media said about him, that culture will then surely trickle down harder to the inexperienced younger players to the point where they'll care what the media says, what we say, what ex players say. And that's not helpful in the slightest. They need to listen and trust their teammates, their coaching staff and most importantly themselves.

I'd say more to the point, wb has often put himself up as a target in the media to protect some players mindsets. To me he is the alternate professional at what he does, and I go as far to say that he is one of the best coaches, if not the best coach in any sport. He has mentored not just better players, but also better people. For that alone, I'd build a statue outside lang park for him (just wait perhaps until he's too old tear it down, because he'd probably hate the idea)

We'll just taxidermy him when he croaks.

Some of you may find this interesting but last night at the Launch I stupidly took a mate who is a Storm supporter. I was chatting to Alex Corvo as I know his brother and my mate asked Alex "why is Melbourne just so good year after year?" He said they are just isolated, out of the media and incredibly professional. Everything they do is 100%". I jumped in and asked "whats the biggest difference from your point of view between the Storm and the Broncos? He said "we are more casual and although Wayne is a good coach, Bellamy is modern day coach where Wayne is old school. " He did say that JD will make a big impact with our attack this year even though the WCC was a disaster.
