Does Jock really fit into our team though? Pretty much all our starting players have got at least one physical attribute that makes them stand out from the average player. Unfortunately Jock is just average in every department. Maybe he will do a Billy and get there through sheer determination.

He has a decent boot and that might be all we need at 7 really.

Jock is pretty fast though and has good footwork, outside Mam who is a league in his own he is definitely our second fastest half option by a margin, something that is useful in a team that tends to break open defenses at halfway.

Late to the thread but don't we have Josh Rogers (6) in cup, although 27, but could do a job for a year or so whilst we wait for Coby Black to further develop (like Mozer we have as a development contract whilst still young).

I wouldn't go after Gamble, Bird, Dearden or any other. With Alfie and ARey there we can surely develop these guys, even Madden a bit more.

Watched round 23 (i think) broncos vs cowboys. Madden played 7.

He set up a good try with a double cut-out pass and put carrigan into a gap which led to a try. He followed kevie's game plan which was all about territory, so put up high kicks to the corner and land 10m or there abouts, supported well, defended pretty well and gave early ball to walsh and his centres.

But he struggled for 5th play options when we were in our attacking zone. About two well placed kicks across field but other than that pretty poor.

It was only his second game with the club so I will give him that, but I hope he is hanging around reynolds like a bad smell, and picking his brain.

I can’t see us stumbling into some other club’s starting half. Reynold’s was a fall into our lap signing, let’s be honest. Souths completely made a meal of it.

We’re going to have to develop our next choice.

, Madden has played **** all, most of those games many here wished they had Gamble there, because he has a much stronger mentality and demands the ball for kicks which Madden doesn't do which is why mam kicks alot more when he plays which he shouldn't because mams kicking game is fucking shit.

The 7 has to be the Alpha male of the team or it doesn't work, because they have to get the ball to them for the majority of kicks because the 7 is the best kicker or they are not the 7, some soft spoken beta doesn't work and madden has to work on this because when he plays Mam is kicking far too often when he shouldn't, it wouldn't be soo bad if Walsh was kicking but because he isn't in this scenario you know it isn't pre planned, because even Kevvie would know you would rather Walsh kicking than Mam.
Where is this kicking stuff coming from that Madden isn't doing the kicking and its all on Mam?

I don't remember it like that and according to NRL stats Madden played 3 games with Ezra in 2023.

Round 12 against Panthers Madden kicked 14 times for 477 meters vs. Mam 1 grubber for 4 meters
Round 23 against Cows Madden kicked 10 times for 358 meters vs. Mam 1 grubber for 13 meters
Round 26 against Raiders Madden kicked 8 times for 208 meters vs. Mam 4 kicks being 4 grubbers for 28 meters

How does that equate to Madden being a soft spoken beta who lets Mam do all the kicking?

Lol some fans just need someone to hate on, even if there'sno logic behind it. They've moved on from Billy (for now), and are now randomly on Madden.

Maybe it's a thing against ex West Tigers players...

I would love to see the Broncos produce a young talented specialist half back. I don't fancy Sam Walker or Lachlan Lam or anyone else rather. My favorite players are home grown bronco's talent like Carrigan, Mam etc.

What physical attribute does Reynolds have that makes him stand out? He's not big, he's not fast, he's not strong.
What he has is between the ears and there's nothing to say that Jock can't develop into that over the next two years being Reyno's shadow.

We've had our fair share over the years. Off the top of my head and in no particular order (not all of these may have been Broncos through and through):

Brett Seymour
Berrick Barnes
Ben Hunt
Tanah Boyd
Ashley Taylor
Corey Norman
Kodi Niko
Tom Deariedundunduuuunnnn

We've had some lean years, realistically the past decade should have been Ben Hunt. 2015 broke a few of our guys mentally and unfortunately he was one of the casualties. The succession plan was Ash Taylor.

Reynolds may be short (and old) but he's deceptively nimble. Compare him to other halves and you'll see how well he moves around the field. I'm not saying it's all to do with physicality but being good on your feet makes kicking and passing naturally easier, just look at Reece Walsh.

Man i wish we picked Hunt over Milford. I just feel that the down years of 2019, 2020 and 2021 would have been slightly better if we had Hunt. But then again, if we kept Hunt we wouldnt have gone and got Reynolds so I am happy with how it all panned out.

He should be even more nimble this season being 5kg lighter.

lets hope that means less stress on his legs. Might make him more of a target in Defence though

It`s lateral movement he got found out on a cpl of times last year .
Being lighter and faster acceleration should help .
He is a very strong front on defender . Can punish big blokes when given the chance .
5 Kg is a lot on a frame his size though ?
