I can see the Broncos thinking in this. Capes best form is behind him and while he was very experienced he was found out more than once this year in cover defence with his lack of pace. Here's hoping PIakura can stay pretty well injury free for next year.

On the experience thing we now have a group of young players who have played a complete final series including the GF and now know what it takes to go all the way in this comp.

My only real concern is if Reyno goes down injured. I'm hoping with an eye to the future that Ezra starts to see more of the kicking duties.

Exactly @Nerd
The experience thing?! Was a thing until Penrith debunked it 3 years ago and won the comp with the youngest team. Before anyone says “they have Cleary”, I get it but we also have class all over the park.

Sometimes you can't quite perfectly time that transition whereby an experienced campaigner like Capewell is replaced in the team by a young gun like Piakura - but I reckon we've gone pretty close here.

Capes, love him as much as I do, is beginning to show signs of regression, whilst Piakure seems to have the world at his feet.

Ideally we'd have Capewell around for another season or two to impart some of his wisdom and experience on the young fella. Teach him the professionalism required to be a consistent, established first-grader, but Capes also needs to look after himself and his future.

It appears to be an amicable agreement from all parties, which is always nice. Even though he was only here a couple of seasons, Capewell has played a huge part in the turnaround of the club. All the best, mate.

How’s this douche bag? “Quitting the Broncos” implies he made the decision to leave. We let him leave (didn’t want to) due to $$ decisions. Different to “quitting”.
**** off Petey.

No, he quit. The Broncos had given him permission to leave, but it was his decision whether to cut his contract short. It had been reported for a couple of weeks he had not made his DECISION. He DECIDED to leave. Badel reported it correctly.

Also Badel never speculated on this story, it was pushed by Read, Riccio and Dobbo. He didn't comment until it was certain.

Every story on this notes it was Capewell's decision:

So "**** off MIckey," turns out you're the "douchebag."
Hey be nice to @Mick_Hancock - shouldn't be insulting each other over defending wanker journalists.

Badel has been posting about this story for a while too.

I have no problem with insulting journalists, but at least get it right yourself. You don't won't to become that one nutty guy I won't mention.

Mchunt sticking up for badel is so fucking cringe
You ***** piling on someone and getting it wrong yourself is what's cringe. No, it's cunty. Try not to be a ****.

I keep track of all these rumours and hold them accountable. The status on Capewell was the ball was in his court.

Why is everyone saying we’ve lost players?!?!
It’s not like “wow, where did the players go? Did we leave them in the forest during the excursion?” We didn’t fucken “lose” anyone! We let players go based on stupid fkn offers that we weren’t willing to match! 850k for Flegler? No thanks. Good on him for taking the money. We didn’t lose them, we just didn’t get into a bidding war.

In DD and Kev we trust.

Well unless we're just loaning those players to the new clubs they're going to, we lost them. Whether we let them go or got outbid, still lost them.

If people think we aren't going to feel those losses, they're kidding themselves. Their replacements might hit the ground running but the chances of them being able to maintain that are pretty slim.

The elephant in the room is once again BILLY WALTERS.

Like Ezra and Adam, he's now free to talk to other clubs, yet not one BHQer has even asked why he hasn't been extended. It's all Ezra this, Reece that, with a little Reyno on the side.

Shame on you, BHQ.

I would not offer him a new contract, Billy Walters had a few good games but isn't a quality hooker. I would happily play Smoothy as the starting dummyhalf, next year. If we wanted more impact off the bench I wouldn't give up hope on Paix. Tbh I wouldn't like to see Billy in the 17 next year, the amount of good games compared to his bad is horrible.
