I'm going to predict SOS will be the new Troy Dargan.

Why is it that we never seem to blood rookie halves?

Is it a case of whoever’s in the 6/7 is playing just well enough in the coach’s opinion? And never seem to get injured?

I don’t hate Kodi, nor want him dropped (super sub is still his best spot imo), but you see guys like Lewis, May, Hughes, Croft, Jacks, Clifford, AJ, Lino etc all get starts and play overall rather well.

Now some of those guys were there because of how bad some teams were and others through injury, but anyone who watched us play this year could see we needed something more than a Kodi intercept or two every game.

He won't be much more than that. It makes me laugh when fans assume that a reject from another club signed for minimum wage who has one game to his credit is going to walk into the starting role at HB. Niko isn't the answer but he has got this guy covered.
I'm pretty sure he was highly regarded at the Roosters....They didn't want to lose him. Agree that there is a fair chance he turns out to be bog average but I'd like to think that he might surprise a few people.

If you look at those names, most of them didn't get their opportunity until the season was over. Lewis didn't debut until Round 16, Clifford in Round 19, Lino in Round 24 of the 2015 season etc. Brisbane were never in that position of absolute necessity.

Dargan's best opportunity to make the team was in Round 6 against the Warriors. Unfortunately for him he missed the trials and the first three rounds of ISC, so he never got that opportunity to impress. When he did play ISC, he mostly took a back-seat to Todd Murphy and Jack Ahearn when it came to guiding the team around the park.

Murphy and Scarlett were the Broncos most likely options and I have a tough time envisioning either getting Brisbane into the finals.

Hopefully O'Sullivan has better luck than Dargan. The Broncos will have to be patient, SOS has some nice attributes but he's yet to find any consistency playing against men.

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of Bird playing in the halves.

Bennett wants him to get his hands on the ball as much as possible and he's already shown he is willing to play him in the halves.

Question:
Anyone think Bird will hang around when Wayne leaves ?

I just would have thought, and hoped, that for $800,000 per year (or 5 mill per season or whatever the latest Bird salary is) that we would have a specialist halfback to show for that sort of coin. Not Jack bloody Bird the makeshift half! I think he will go great at centre or lock as people here have already said, but not at number 7.

And when I say a 'specialist halfback', I mean an Adam Reynolds or a Shaun Johnson. Not that stubby-nosed, curly-headed little ****, Ash Taylor!

It as though the one position Wayne is shit scared of failure is half back. He’ll never blood a rookie half even though there’s guys derping it up in many other positions.

so you mean a half back that is signed long term deals for their current clubs for much more than we have Bird on.

Not arguing with you there mate. Just saying a halfback other than Bird, on his salary, would be preferrable. Particularly when Jack, in his brief appearances there this year, didn't appear to be all that much chop as a halfback.
