Herbie’s got the rig out too. Lock up your daughters.
We called past to see if they were training when up in Brissy a few weeks back. My daughter wanted to have a look. Herbie was doing some stuff by himself with the top off. Oddly enough he is my wife’s new favourite player.

some people have some unrealistic expectations , thinking we should be a finished product with still so many youngsters in our squad.
Not so much a finished product from my POV as an improving product in the areas of ball control, pass selection , winning field position, being patient etc.
I think Pat was much better this week and having Kobe back along with Flegs is a tick.

Our draw for the next 7 games decides our top 4 ambitions IMO and we have to be much better in all thise areas mentioned.

We have to win 3, 4 would be good, over that I'd say we're top 4 bound with the usual caveats around injury/fatigue etc.

Eels
Rabbits
Manly
Storm
Panthers
Warriors
Sharks

Then we go
Knights
bye
Titans
Dolphins
Bye
Dogs

Not sure if Billy is reading from the same script as everyone else sometimes.

He runs late in the tackle count, and ends up having someone else feeding ARey for the kick.

He runs... and no one seems to have got the memo.

Even when he does have the ball late in the set, the attack looks disjointed. Can't pin it all on his though - I have more confidence in use scoring form half way than inside the 20m.... that Riki try early was embarrassing for the Titans.... and us.

Best attacking side in the comp by a mile atm. 3rd best defensive.
This is the most surprising stat for me. We have so much strike power, we are still racking up points while blowing chances, turning over possession too much and looking generally disjointed close to the line. Walsh hovering in support is making all the difference. Mam, too.

We were giving Reynolds a hard time for only managing 1 from 4 against the Dolphins, but he's since lifted his overall conversion rate to a perfectly acceptable 73% (Isaako 72%).

Storm and Panthers have been Horrific in attack this week compared to us though, if you actually watched their games.
Yes I watched both their games. I'm not talking about just this week. Are you even reading what I'm writing? I said I'm disappointed there has been zero improvement in the areas which we can all see (and for the most part agree) are lacking, and concerned that better teams will take advantage of that.

A lot of top teams have also had a more disrupted start than us, too, to be fair. Storm and Roosters have been hammered by injuries, Panthers adjusting to life without Kiks and Api, Eels without Mahoney and Papali'i as well as injuries... We've been pretty lucky so far with only Kobe, Oates and Flegs out for a while so have had the chance to trot out an almost unchanged side week after week - one of very few teams in the comp who have had that luxury.

I've never said we should be the finished product FFS. We're a young team still, Walsh is a key player who aside from being young is also new to the squad this year. It's going to take time. All I'm saying is I would have expected some of our weaknesses would show signs of improvement by now. A first half completion rate of 12/18 (67%), 6 errors and 6 penalties against would suggest we're not improving on these areas at all. We dish that out next week and we'll be blown out of the game by half time.

Why is it so wrong to expect us to be better in areas that are literally fundamentals of the game? Yes, we have individual brilliance which nails the flashy stuff, and I'm sooo happy to see it for the first time in what feels like a very long time. But we have to improve the basics if we want to be a legitimate title threat.

He's a bit of a paradox, our Billy. He came to the club wanting to play 6, but that's his weakness.

He's become quite decent at the rote mechanical side of 9: flat passing from dummy half, crisp service, energetic defence. So too, Corey Paix. They're both good enough in my opinion.

But whenever he steps beyond that - where thinking's involved - or pushing momentum, he becomes something of wandering speed bump. He's capable of running from dummy half, and beating the first line of defence, but he generally looks lost once he's in the clear and what happens next gets pretty random. It costs our attack, particularly close to the line.

Paix is no Harry Grant, but our attack noticeably becomes more coherent once he's injected. The ball generally goes to the right player. He doesn't get in the way.

Unfortunately, I don't think football brains is something that comes with trying harder. He's already busting his guts. His effort is beyond reproach.

I honestly think billy will look 100 times better by the end of the season. When the likes of Walsh and mam are used to his runs from dummy half and start to back him up. They have really only played 7 games together. That's not an awful lot for a spine. Paix had his best game of the season last night, it was so good to see. I think he's been completely ordinary to start the year though, Hopefully we get more of the same.

Some of us are hoping he will switch places with Blake Mozer by the end of the season, but I don't think any of us realistically believe it. I worry it will be Paix to get the chop.

Why Patty flicked Dave's face.

Dave runs in with a raised arm copping Patty on the chin. Note Dave's left hand is also raised.

Dave proceeds to push at Patty's face with his left hand.

They don’t back him up because he tends to do it late in the tackle count when they’re lined up in an attacking structure waiting for the ball

Yeah our attack inside the 20 is impotent. Partly due to our dummy halves but also just poor structure.

We have the most tries in the comp and the most errors

Listening to the Titans presser, they don’t need to look any further than Holbrook to find out what one of their major issues is. You have Tino who at a young age shows more leadership than Holbrook ever has and sitting next to him is his coach whinging and bitching and implying that not checking whether it was Sami or Walsh that hit the ball out for the 20m restart cost them the game.

Pathetic.
