Am I making that argument? I am saying he was worse in '16 than '15. Self evident. You seem to be confusing yourself here. Hunt improved a lot towards the finals last year. We almost won the premiership in '15 largely because of Hunt, we didn't win in '15 largely because of Hunt.

'16 the whole team was down and Hunt did not improve on his '15 form. So yes, he contributed to not winning the comp. Not blaming him alone. He is meant to lead the team around though, and he did that much better in '15 than in '16.
Well to be perfectly honest and a tad semantic but the captain is supposed to lead the team. Hodges was a great captain. Parker... not so much. I think that's just a flaw in his professionalism though.. he was a very if you will, self motivating and encompassed kind of player. This helped him become a fine player and top of his class but it also did tend to detach him as an individual from the group (team dynamics)

Why i know next year with Boyd as Captain we will do better things.

I hope so. But the the six and seven are supposed to lead the attack, if you will. Our six and seven need to improve with that, the captain sets the attitude and I agree, Parker was not a great captain.

Edit* I hope Boyd doesn't have to wait until '18 to captain..

So what your saying is that we should make Hunt our million dollar man because our season hinges on his shoulders and his shoulders alone so the other 16 in the team week in week out get a free pass

Do you Hunt apologists read or do you just have a go to list of responses such as yours?

Question: Does the Storm's ability to win the comp rest on Cronk's shoulders, and his alone? No. But without his shoulders, they don't have a chance. *He's their half back by the way.

He is also their highest paid half by a very long way.

Hunt isn't our highest paid half.

FTR, I would argue that Cameron Smith is their most important player not Cronk

Pretty sure the Storm pay Cronk like he is the leader of their team.
We are about to pay Milford the same amount of money and yet we don't expect him to lead the team. Its all on Hunt. The amount of criticism he cops on here is ridiculous considering Milford got off scot free last year with his end of year performances. The only criticism you guys can make about Hunt is his kicking game but you seem to go very quite when the chase is equally as good and as a result the kicking game improves because the chasers are putting in (ie the storm game last year). If we toss Hunt out of the cupboard, the question is, will Milford be able to step up and be the man or does he need a half to hold his hand and cop the blame for his shortcomings all the time like Hunt does. Hunts kicking game is extremely dependant on the whole team working together like what Cronks is at the Storm.

Ahh, so the key is paying Hunt more money. Riiight. You really must be related to him.

Hunt's kicking isn't his only problem, just his biggest one. Now I know you don't read critical posts. Milf has copped heaps of criticism, but he has far more skill and potential than Hunt. Does Hunt need to improve in your mind or is it everyone else? Why does everyone criticize Hunt's kicking...because he's the HALF! He does the damn kicking. Maybe Hunt has the wrong number on his back..?

Milford will hopefully improve, and if he does, will be the best player in the game. Milf is younger than Hunt, but already a better player in many ways.

Foordy, of course Cam is their most important player, but not by much. They can't win without Cronk. They can't win without Smith.

Can we win without Hunt? Can we win with him? I don't know.

quick question ... would you rather a repeat set or a try. because Hunt is up the top of a try assists last season, he knows he hasn't got the strongest kicking game, but he has trust in his outside men, and he puts on plenty of trys inside the opposition 20.

and even when he does put in a good kick into the in-goal, the chase is usually shocking allowing the opposition to make it back to the field of play
Despite appearances I'm not hating on Hunt. I thought that after the gf debacle he may not recover and over a year later I believe he hasn't and probably won't whilst ever remaining in Brisbane. I also never believed he had all the skills required for the best halfbacks. He is lion hearted and determined but limited, that is not a matter of blame.

I want him to be a control freak but he is not. I want that for the good of the team. I want the magical skill that Lewis, Langer, Smith, Cronk, Thurston and Lockyer had, the mature hand on the tiller in the raging storm. It's not his fault he does not possess that, few do. I'm happy to stick with him for now but would never agree with paying him for the very best when he is only capable of good performance.

I think people would be still very angry with Hunt if he had the highest amount of forced repeat sets but a shit number of try assists

People will be angry with Hunt regardless.

It won't matter what he does. The anti Hunt brigade will never be happy.

There is no 'anti Hunt' brigade. There are simply those who say he needs to improve, and those who can't bring themselves to think such a thing.

back up that statement ... show me one post where someone has claimed that Hunt is perfect and has zero area's he needs to improve

See here is where we differ ... because IMO the player you just described needs to be Milford (while it would be awesome if both our halves could be that player) ... Milford is about to be made the next million dollar a season player. for the money he will be demanding (and get) he needs to be our main playmaker, our go-to guy.

It's time for Milford to show that he deserves the money we will be paying him during his next contract.

Hunt certainly has area's he needs to improve, but he hasn't been as bad as some people make out. Hunt should be offered around the 700k from us for the next couple of season's and he would certainly be worth that in the current climate.

IMO, there are only 2 complete halves in the NRL. Thurston and Cronk.

I would argue Maloney is pretty much there too. Nowhere near as good as the other two but even throughout history, not many would be. However, he also pretty much has it all.

you may be right, but our own Smokin' Joe, who has a proven record of getting these things right has stated that Bennett and the club want hunt to be our long term halfback ...

at this stage, that's good enough for me

Rodgerwilco has been on the money in everything he has said, apart from jnik . And smokin joe was wrong about him too. Things may have changed

The uh..Ben Hunt Boys dodge the question entirely - does he need to improve to keep his spot? The silence is deafening every time it is posed to the BHB.

Mitchy boy for example. I asked him the question, he didn't answer it. Just the same non-sense about people criticizing his hero about his kicking.

And it's not the first time I've asked, and the BHB haven't answered. You have in your previous post, so good for you.

You can't even have a rational discussion with the Ben Hunt Boys - ANY criticism gets you bashed as 'hater'. I've even come out and said I support Hunt, want him here THIS year and want him to do well.

But because Ben needs to improve his game (more than his kicking, BHB) we get the typical deflections - Milf this, forwards that.
